📊🚆 SANDAG is facing growing pressure over audit findings and employee workload.

A recent report found:
✅ 112 open corrective action plans
✅ 46% past due
✅ 40 high-risk items still unresolved
✅ Reports of staff taking stress leave due to compliance demands

Board members debated whether the agency should hire outside experts to help clear the backlog, while management argued employees are struggling to balance audits with major transportation projects.

The discussion raised questions about accountability, staffing and the future of oversight at one of the region’s largest public agencies.

4 score and some time of 4 years ago……
A beautiful project fell into the laps of a mighty team of local Artists….
Their mission: to Create and install the largest polytab mural in San Diego history that would show a timeline of the Past, Present, and Future of the beautiful Logan & Sherman Heights areas. With the help from the Logan Heights Community Development Corp, SANDAG, and CALTRANS, The Artists served and delivered. Working against the elements and the constant pressure of Time™, The Artists orchestrated the execution against the jaws of capitalism and gentrification. Together, they formed an alliance not even Evil Exhaustion could stop or pull apart. Completed within 73 days of hard strenuous work.
I am so honored and so grateful to have helped create this Artwork that will show our love for generations to come!!!I loved working with you all and loved going home covered in paint and sweat. And sometimes an assortment of bugs. It was so special to paint Archie Moore among the Icons who have shaped this community for the better. It was so so special. 💐 🥊

New artwork in Logan Heights! 🎨

Caltrans and @loganheightscdc unveiled new murals under the 5 and 15 along Imperial Avenue. ✨

With funding from Caltrans through the #CleanCA initiative, more than a dozen local artists brought the murals to life. This project reflects the creativity, resilience, and cultural pride of the community.

Over the past few months a few others and I have been working on a vision to bring more parks and public space to our neighborhoods. Gabrielle Werve, Will Bennett (all these awesome renderings are his), and Oliver Asis have been gracious enough to do much of the conceptual, technical, and visual work on this effort so far.

Now that we've established our general vision, we're having our first Happy Hour to meet the folks who have already volunteered to help us build this vision out. If you'd like to volunteer or come out and talk shop over a few drinks, check out the site first (heartsofbalboa.org/corridor-visions) and then join us on Wednesday at North Park Beer Co's Bankers Hill taproom to talk about it. There are no announcements, no speeches, no agenda, just a gathering of civic-nerds who want nice parks and neighborhoods. We'll have a sign on one of the tables though. Come find us.

🚆🏗️ Carlsbad’s long-discussed rail trench is moving forward.

The City Council approved a new agreement to advance planning, design and environmental review for a project that would place railroad tracks below grade through Carlsbad Village.

Potential benefits include:
✅ Improved pedestrian safety
✅ Better traffic flow
✅ Enhanced beach access
✅ Fewer rail crossings
✅ Economic development opportunities

The trench would stretch through much of the Village area and is part of broader efforts to modernize the LOSSAN rail corridor.

Happy Oktoberfest! 🥨🍂🧡

This weekend, Travelers Aid was proud to co-host with AgeWell Services for a group outing to La Mesa Oktoberfest! Our group met at Old Town Transit Center and took the trolley together from Old Town to La Mesa, making the outing a fun way to enjoy the community while also learning more about navigating public transportation.

Once we arrived, everyone enjoyed walking around the festival, taking in the sights, spending time together, and enjoying the Oktoberfest festivities. It was a wonderful opportunity to get out, connect with the community, and enjoy a fun day together!

We’re grateful to be able to help make community outings and experiences more accessible through transportation.
