You really need to dig into Large Quantitative Models (LQMs) and SandboxAQ.

Attached is a research piece on what could happen if billions of people around the world would be able to talk to their LLM-based AI-interface of choice and task a hyper-complex quantitative AI model, a Large Quantitative Model (LQM), to invent an entirely new medicine, chemistry, or material.

Since this week, one of @sandboxaq’s LQM-models is now available via Anthropic’s Claude platform. This model is called AQPotency and is designed to virtually screen and predict the potential of drug candidates. And very soon, probably in September, one of their LQMs will be accessible via Google Cloud.

Large Language Models (LLMs) are truly amazing. But they are semantic in nature. They predict the most suitable next word based on hundreds of billions of parameters. It’s insane how good they are. BUT, they are probabilistic, which means they cannot compute billions of mathematical calculations with deterministic results. And our society is run on deterministic mathematical calculations. The language of the universe is math. Not words.

I believe we’re very close to the next phase of the AI evolution, one where quantitative AI models takes AI from the semantic outer layers of business and society at large, into the very core. Healthcare, manufacturing, mobility, materials, finance, etc., are all quantitative at their cores. Not semantic. The next phase will understand, simulate, and even remake our physical and quantitative dimensions of society.

In a couple of years from now (maybe less), it is not inconceivable that we’ll be able to tell Claude, Gemini, or ChatGPT that you want to start experimenting to discover a new drug, protein, or renewable synthetic material. And it will actually do it. And if that is the case, we would see yet another scientific revolution. Moderna’s cancer vaccine announcement a couple of days ago is a clear signal of this.

Gartner expects more than 40% of agentic AI projects to be canceled by the end of 2027, undone by escalating costs, unclear business value, and weak risk controls.

The technology isn’t the problem. The problem is that most companies still can’t say what their AI spending is actually buying them.

“The wrong question is whether the cost per token is going up,” says Andreas Hassellöf, CEO of Ombori. The right question is whether the cost per business outcome is going down, and whether the outcome itself has become more valuable because the process was redesigned.”

Mohammed Aboul-Magd, General Manager – Cybersecurity at SandboxAQ, says to bring AI measurement down to the level of the task: a proposal, a customer ticket, a sales close or another defined piece of work. If a process that previously took three weeks can now be completed in days, that change can be measured.

“Not every task requires the largest model, the most expensive accelerator or a real-time deployment path,” says Sherif Tawfik, Chief Business Officer at Core42. “Organizations can reduce costs by routing each workload to the most appropriate model, accelerator and deployment environment. This improves utilization, avoids paying for idle or over-specified capacity and reserves premium infrastructure for applications that genuinely require it.”

Alexandre Depret-Bixio, SVP, International at Anomali, says, "Companies should look at how long it takes to move from incoming data to a decision a security team trusts, how much analyst time has been removed from manual work, and what it costs to resolve an incident fully."

Companies could create a bigger problem by optimizing the technology without redesigning the work around it. Boards that treat AI as a token bill to be reduced risk making the same mistake as factories that installed electric motors without rethinking their production systems.

The objective is not to build the cheapest system possible. It is to understand what the technology has changed, what that change is worth, and whether the company has redesigned itself enough to capture the value of that change.

SandboxAQ isn't growing by accident under Jack Hidary.

In 2016, Hidary was leading Alphabet's internal AI and quantum computing unit years before "quantum-safe" was a boardroom phrase and before most enterprises understood AI needed anything beyond large language models. He saw the gap early: LLMs are great at language, but industries like biopharma, finance, and materials science run on physics and math that LLMs simply weren't built to model.

That insight became SandboxAQ's Large Quantitative Models (LQMs): AI trained on real lab data and scientific equations, purpose-built for what Hidary calls the "quantitative economy," a sector he estimates at $50+ trillion spanning biopharma, energy, and financial services.

In March 2022, SandboxAQ spun out of Alphabet as an independent company, with former Google CEO Eric Schmidt joining as chairman. Since then, the growth curve has been hard to ignore:
-$950M+ raised across funding rounds
-$5.75B valuation as of April 2025
-350+ employees, up from ~286 in 2024
Backed by Google, NVIDIA, BNP Paribas, T. Rowe Price, Ray Dalio, and Marc Benioff

Their client and partner base spans the U.S. Air Force, the Department of Health & Human Services, the Defense Information Systems Agency, and major pharma and financial institutions running active drug discovery and cybersecurity programs. In May 2026, SandboxAQ integrated its LQMs directly with Anthropic's Claude, letting researchers run quantitative science workflows that used to take weeks, in hours.

This isn't hype-cycle growth. It's a company that spotted a gap in enterprise AI years before the rest of the market noticed it.

Question for AI and R&D leaders:
Where is your team still forcing a language model to solve a math problem it was never built for?

Eric Schmidt’s SandboxAQ Hits $2.5B Revenue as LQMs Scale

By Christopher Lyrhem
June 24, 2031

PALO ALTO, USA — SandboxAQ, the enterprise software company chaired by former Google chief executive Eric Schmidt, reported a surge in annualized recurring revenue past $2.5 billion on Wednesday, driven by aggressive corporate adoption of its Large Quantitative Models. The milestone marks a structural shift in enterprise artificial intelligence, indicating a decisive pivot away from text-based generative tools toward algorithmic systems capable of simulating complex physical, chemical, and biological interactions. The financial figures represent a 140 percent increase from the previous fiscal year, making the firm one of the fastest-scaling software entities in the global industrial sector.

The privately held company disclosed that its enterprise client base expanded significantly over the past 12 months, securing major multi-year contracts with industrial heavyweights including Siemens, BASF, and Novartis. Unlike Large Language Models that calculate the statistical probability of the next word in a sequence, SandboxAQ’s Large Quantitative Models, or LQMs, ingest massive, multi-dimensional datasets of physical laws, magnetic fields, and molecular structures to solve specific engineering bottlenecks.

SandboxAQ Deepens Google Partnership at $30 Billion Valuation

By Christopher Lyrhem
June 22, 2031

MOUNTAIN VIEW — SandboxAQ, the quantum technology and artificial intelligence enterprise spun out of Alphabet, has finalized a sweeping infrastructure and distribution partnership with Google Cloud that values the independent firm at $30 billion. The agreement, signed late Thursday, commits Google to integrating SandboxAQ’s proprietary Large Quantitative Models (LQMs) across its core enterprise computing platforms over the next four years, positioning the company for a highly anticipated initial public offering.

The transaction underscores a structural shift in enterprise computing away from text-based generative algorithms toward LQMs. Unlike legacy large language models that predict word sequences, quantitative models utilize quantum equations and advanced mathematics to simulate physical reality.

Eric Schmidt, chairman of SandboxAQ and former Google chief executive, framed the expanded alliance as a necessary maturation for commercial artificial intelligence. ”We spent the last decade teaching machines how to talk, but enterprise customers now require systems that understand physics, chemistry, and mathematics,” Schmidt said in an interview Friday. ”Language models operate on probability, whereas quantitative models operate on deterministic reality. This expanded Google Cloud integration provides the compute density required to scale physics-based artificial intelligence across global supply chains and industrial research divisions.”
