@niksenhouse — A one-night weekday stay in a Scandinavian-inspired A-frame tucked along the Sandy River at the base of Mt. Hood National Forest.

@sandyriverstudio — A two-hour private pottery session in a converted barn on a peaceful farm near the Sandy River. Designed for beginners, the session offers an approachable way to relax and explore something creative—about 20-minute drive from Niksen House.

@ladymaeboutique — A $50 gift card to this sister-owned women’s boutique in Portland’s Alberta Arts District.

@yours.truly.pdx — A $40 gift card to this neighborhood café in Sellwood.

@sugarpinedrivein — A $40 gift card to this old-school, new-American drive-in on the banks of the Sandy River in Troutdale—the perfect stop between PDX and Mt. Hood.

Earlier this month, we gathered on a Sunday afternoon to cook, create, and dine at Sandy River Studio.

First we learned to hand-roll dumplings from Lani Chan, founder of Hei Ma—we talked and laughed, and Lani shared her own traditions surrounding gathering with friends and family to make food. We then worked with Sandy River Studio’s own artist, maker, and farmer Jaime Holub to create a tray and sauce cup for future dumplings.

So much connection and care happens when we create together—also so many laughs! Ego was left at the door, leaving room for connection.

MEMBERSHIP IS OPEN, LINK IN BIO: we’d love to have you join us ✨

This is Jaime! The artist and dreamer behind @sandyriverstudio. She hosts collaborative workshops out of a converted dairy barn turned pottery studio / cozy space in Sandy, Oregon. Learn to dye with indigo, take an intro pottery class, or make dumplings and a cute dish to scoop them off of. There are so many memories, connections, and beautiful things to be made here!

Dumplings + clay. A very good Sunday.

Join LCC at @sandyriverstudio for an afternoon of making things by hand. Lani Chan of Hei Ma will teach us to make traditional pork + chive dumplings from scratch, followed by a hand-building workshop where we’ll make our own ceramic dumpling plates and dipping dishes.

And then, naturally, we eat.

I’m coming to PDX!!

Next month, I’m bringing dumpling workshops to Oregon. If you’re in the Portland area (or want a peaceful getaway) please join us at @sandyriverstudio on 9/19 or 9/20! We’ll be making pork and chive wontons from scratch (wrappers, fillings, and all). Next, Jaime will walk you through making your own dumpling dish and chili crisp saucer set that you’ll get to enjoy at home!

We’ll eat a meal together (your own dumplings, all the Hei Ma chili crisp I can fit in my suitcase, and fresh veggies from the farm) on Jaime’s stunning handmade dinnerware.

This is a new offering for the both of us and I’m really looking forward to it! We just set up early bird pricing for our friends— sign up before 9/7 to save $25 off your ticket.

Hit us up with any questions! Can’t wait to host you.
