Massive thank you to everyone who came to the “Under The Laurel Tree” single launches. I feel so lucky to be able to share my music and stories. It was especially heart-warming to see long-time listeners sing along to songs from my debut album. I don’t take it for granted! ❤️ Stay tuned for the album launch in September! How to make 糯米糍 Lo Mai Chi with my mum, Irene! ⭐️

糯米糍 are glutinous rice dumplings traditionally filled with crushed peanuts, sesame and sugar. With just a few pantry ingredients, mum shows us how to make the most soft and pillowy mochis imaginable (+ a few tips and tricks).

To celebrate the launch of my new single “Under The Laurel Tree”, we’ll be serving these mochis THIS SATURDAY at @4a_aus and on July 8 at @hopestradio. That’s right, every ticket holder gets a complementary mochi made by mum! There are only a few days left to secure a spot so don’t sleep on it. Link in bio!

Beginning this Saturday, July 4 on Gadigal land at @4a_aus, with support from @wytchings.

And in Naarm on July 8 at @hopestradio with @sandyshoe + @thread._____ DJs.

Shaped by Rainbow Chan’s long-standing research into the Weitou women’s ritual songs, or bridal laments, of Hong Kong, the shows support the release of her latest single and her forthcoming album ‘The Bridal Lament’.

Weaving together live performance, storytelling and traditional snacks prepared by Rainbow and her mum, Rainbow invites audiences into the emotional and sensory world behind the songs.

Announcing two very special shows in July to launch my latest single, “Under The Laurel Tree”. It’s been a while since I’ve done a straight-up music gig in Aus — and I’m bloody excited. I’ll be performing songs from my new album “The Bridal Lament”, as well sharing stories and traditional snacks prepared by mum and me. As fresh as persimmons my beautiful conversation with the equally beautiful @sandyshoe has just aired on Opium Audia on @3rrrfm !

We talk about her new single ‘Loving you is so hard’ and how it was shaped by her most significant love - her parents - and how this connection grows and evolves as we age. About the delicate connections between small acts and how they can translate into unconditional love. About the complex nature of immigrant families and the different ways in which love shows itself when you don’t always have the same language of love as your parents.
