ANOTHA NABJ Convention in the books! Atlanta owes me nothin! ✅🙌🏾

Last week I had the opportunity to participate in Student Multimedia Projects for a second year. It was so cool and inspiring to report, produce, anchor and tell stories in the heart of Atlanta.

Returning back for year two felt like a full circle moment, knowing #nabj25 was where my journalism journey really started.

When I first attended NABJ last year, I came into the Student Projects with little to no journalism experience and didn’t really know what I was getting myself into.

NABJ gave me the opportunity to learn, make mistakes, ask questions and experience what it’s like to actually work as a journalist.

When I came back home, I took everything I learned and got to work!

I started looking for stories in my community, getting behind & in front of the camera, and saying yes to opportunities that pushed me outside my comfort zone.

In just one year, journalism has taken me places I never would’ve imagined when I first walked into Student Projects.

Being able to come back this year with more experience and confidence felt amazing. I’m still learning, but it was rewarding to see the growth between the journalist who showed up last year scared and unsure and the one who returned this year ready to WORK!

@nabjofficial opened a door for me, and I’ve been locked in since.

Looking forward to #nabj27 in Houston! 🥳🥳🥳

Another NABJ Convention in the books! ❤️

This was my third NABJ convention, and every year I walk away with something new. I’m thankful for my time in Atlanta, the people I met, the connections I made, and everything I learned along the way.

Until next time, ATL! Houston, see you next year! 🤠

This weekend marked the beginning of a beautiful new chapter. The inaugural Calvin C. Hughes Scholarship was awarded to two truly outstanding students, Sanaaya Howard and Jordan Bankston.

Honored to have my fraternity brother Jawan Strader present this scholarship—it made the moment even more meaningful. In the eyes of these two young leaders, you don’t just see ambition; you see the future taking shape.

This scholarship is more than recognition—it’s a vote of confidence in their potential. And judging by their remarkable achievements already, it’s a vote well-placed. Congratulations to Sanaaya and Jordan. The world is waiting for your brilliance.
