Anna Santangelo & Kostas Murkudis present hand-crafted jewellery pieces inspired by the Oorijzer (ear iron), a type of metal headwear that formed part of traditional Dutch folk costume. These pieces symbolized regional identity and heritage and evolved from utilitarian tools into elements that reflected changing fashions and social status from the 1600s through the 1800s. The three unique works are made of forged and polished brass: a headdress, also worn as a necklace with reference to headphones; a wide belt with a sterling silver chain; and a two-part breastplate that clasps at the back. Kostas Murkudis is a designer living in Berlin. He began his career in 1985 as Helmut Lang’s First Assistant and, since 1996, he has been designing women’s and menswear under his own name. His first exhibition in Athens took place at Akwa Ibom, in 2024. Murkudis' work is in several collections, including Palais Galliera, Paris. An exhibition celebrating his oeuvre took place in July 2015 at the Museum of Modern Art (MMK), Frankfurt, placing his garments in conversation with works by John Chamberlain and Dan Flavin among others. Anna Santangelo is a jewellery designer and stylist living between Brussels and New York. As the founder and creative director of Santangelo, she creates handmade pieces that engage natural materials and sculptural form, shaped by physicality, movement, and lived experience. Santangelo has collaborated with Proenza Schouler, Susan Cianciolo, Paloma Wool, and Fidan Novruzova. Her work has been featured in publications such as Holiday Magazine, Harper's Bazaar France, Crosscurrent, Purple and Marfa Journal.
