Grey skies over Sydney? Don’t cancel your plans, change them ☁️🌧️

We @prettyconnected.co put together our favourite ways to turn a gloomy day into a good one, from wandering galleries and museums to unleashing your inner child at an arcade, or getting cosy in a boutique cinema with a cult classic 🎨🕹️🎬

October is also Mental Health Month, and a little reminder from us: rainy days can make it extra tempting to stay in and isolate. Getting out, trying something new, and sharing it with good people can do more for your headspace than you’d think 💚 Check in on your friends, and on yourself too.

Save this for the next drizzly weekend and tag the friend you’re dragging along 👇

Want to meet new people while you’re at it? Follow @prettyconnected.co for social events across Sydney ✨ #sydney #socialclub #whatson

📚 Love Your Bookshop Day 📚

In honour of #LYBD 📖 I am celebrating four of my absolute favourite bookshops across NSW! If you haven’t visited them yet.. add them to your list immediately 🙊

#bookstagram #reader #booksbooksbooks #booklover

📚 @roaring_stories - A true community hub of Balmain with the best aesthetic 😍 the shelves are always immaculate and I love the vast selection, plus the very cute kids corner that I cannot wait to enjoy with my son when he is old enough 💙

📚 @hillofcontentbalmain - Steeped in history and charm, across Melbourne and Sydney - Hill of Content in Balmain is a book lovers paradise 🤩 Walking through their doors, always gives me a cozy vibe 📖 Their selection is extensive and the staff are always so friendly, welcoming and always available for a chat 😍 I love their “staff picks” and I am so lucky that this is just up the street from my house… although it does make for a dangerous shopping trip 😳

📚 @sapphobooks - My ULTIMATE favourite book shop, which I can (and do) get lost in for HOURS at a time 🙊 It has one of the best second-hand book selections I have ever come across, and the crime/thriller wall always has me walking out with one or two titles in hand 🥰 Books, coffee and wine 🍷📖☕️ (need I say more?) this bookshop always delivers! My favourite afternoon is spent in the courtyard out the back with a wine and book in hand ❤️

📚 @goodearthbookshop - Tucked away in the Blue Mountains ⛰️ no trip there for me is complete without a wonder through this special second-hand bookshop 🫶🏻 They always have some great titles on the shelves, and I manage to never walk away empty handed 📖 The book community across the Blue Mountains makes it one of my favourite places in Australia 🌏

Sydney may look unwelcoming, gruff and C*nty to its visitors and new inhabitants. But take your time babe, let your heart settle, allow yourself to feel the flow. You'll find some gems in this chaotic Leviathan.
