sharing some recent work! featuring the mother-flippin love of my liiiiife, the land 😍 i guess i’ve been a busy lil poet 🐝! these three canadian publications have come out in the last year or so and i’m thrilled to have some poems included. i’ll share more as other things start to go to print! @sappzine volume 2! Check their page out to purchase a copy!! The issue asked us to imagine a different future, here’s what i contributed 🫰🏼 This is a Vancouver island press and the book is entirely nature poems, they do not have ig ha. Google “repartee press” to check out their work! One of the two poems i contributed to this nature anthology! Fun fact, my auntie was an editor! Is also inside. Kinda fun! And it was a blind sift so don’t worry, no nepotism 🤣 This is the brainchild of @arlinffrenchart and i was very happy they wanted to include excerpts from a prose piece I’m STILL working on, set in the sacred woods. Check out arlin’s page for how to snag a copy of this truly unique and beautiful anthology! I mean… Come ON Three poetry collections held by a right hand with a tattoo on the form that reads joy and sorrow can coexist. In the background is a wood chipped forest path wreathed in green trees.

We need more art in our neighbourhood! We’re chatting with @artsnewwest to see what this could look like. Have suggestions or want to get involved? Drop a comment, send us a DM, or email us! With new developments come new neighbours, and there’s been a LOT of development in Sapperton, and tons of artists and creatives who’ve moved to the area (us and @sappzine included 😉) New West has an awesome arts community 🩷 and we want to make sure our neighbourhood isn’t left behind! The more ideas we have, the better able we’ll be to apply for grants and implement programming. We want to hear from YOU! 📣 so let us know what you want to see! #arts #newwestminster #sapperton #community

My dear friends, the fourth of our five featured poets for our Famous Last Words New Westminster show on Wednesday April 22nd is Jenny Garcha! https://famouslastwordsnewwestapril222026.eventbrite.ca Jenny Garcha humbly learnt to accept the generosity of Penticton’s diverse immigrant community. These people who were from all the different corners of the globe. Who were here in Canada, trying to make a name for themselves and provide for their families, just like her mother. Her childhood was multicultural; different languages, tongues and mouths speaking, often hollering over one another as if she had landed in the middle of the tower of Babel. This loving community that surrounded Jenny in her early years, is the positive influence she has with her through every adventure she partakes in. She carries her Canadian family with her everywhere. The tickets for this show are free (thank you @artsnewwest , @tricitiespoetry, @eventmags @canadianpoets and @royalcitylit ) but I encourage everyone who wants to attend to book your tickets through eventbrite to guarantee your seat. #deathridesaunicorn #famouslastwords #newestpoetry #unicorn #jennygarcha
