Had a great evening at the Local Author Showcase @shipstonbookfest

Lovely to see @sara_fox_author and @kerrywilliamsauthor again, and to talk to lots of new people.

Thank you to everyone who bought a book, and thanks to the festival for having me along.

This book emerged one weekend when I was trying to make sense of the link between music and stimming.

It started out as a story about teenager, Rowan, ADHD with a washing machine brain, struggling with performative pressure to get through his A-levels.

But then Gabe took over. He wanted me to explore the silences in relationships, even our most important ones.

This book explores, loss and the words we can’t say. Undiagnosed ADHD and the misreading of executive dysfunction as laziness. Male grief and cultural conditioning. And the extreme pressure placed on young people through exam season.

Described as “Claire brings...the beauty and relief of nature, of music and of movement.” By Sara Fox, Author, Complementary Health Practitioner and Mother.

Out in October. Available for pre order now ❤️✨#

Birmingham’s Untold Story Awaits! A Legacy Forged - Author's Talk & Q&A with Sara Fox. 📚

Everyone knows the Birmingham of gangs and shadows. But what about the families who stood against them?

A Legacy Forged from the Seller & Son series reveals the OTHER side of Birmingham’s history - the people who built this city’s reputation through grit, integrity and an unshakeable refusal to be corrupted, even when it would have been easier to look the other way.

If you loved the world of Peaky Blinders, then the Seller & Son series is for you. Join the author @sara_fox_author for an intimate event at @birmingham_mag. Hear the inspiration behind the series. Ask your questions. Be part of the conversation.

This isn’t just another author event, it’s a journey into the heart of Birmingham’s true legacy.

📚 Meet Sara Fox | Author Talk & Q&A
📅 9th October | 1pm
📍 Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery

🎟️ Tickets available now on the Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery website.

June reading review! A few days late…

I chose this portrait of a lady with a book and pleased smile for the cover art because I had a great month of reading☺️

I read some great ARCs, kept up with my buddy reads and book clubs, and fit in a few recent releases and non-fiction.

Do we have any in common?

Historical Fiction:
The Calamity Club by Kathryn Stockett
Toujours Á Toi by Rachael Britton (ARC- released June 23)
The Ladies Hall by Vanessa Miller (ARC- release Aug 11)
Lady Tremaine by Rachel Hochhauser
Angelina by Sara Fox (ARC- release TBD)

Classics:
The Heart is a Lonely Hunter by Carson McCullers
Middlemarch by George Eliot
Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier

Non-Fiction:
We the People by Jill Lepore
We the Women by Norah O’Donnell

Author Spotlight: Sara Fox @sara_fox_author ✨

•A Legacy Forged available now!

“I was with a traditional publisher and still struggling to make sense of the whole process. Working with Isabelle gave me the vision to see, and the confidence to know, that I would be better off as an independent author - and I am!

Going independent was scary but I learned so much about branding and marketing, and had some great contacts to make a confident start on my self-pub journey.”
