Not sure how 10 years have passed since I got the news. Cancer. But because of the most caring person in the entire world, I got checked when I was 47. Three years before I would have had a scheduled prostate exam. Who knows what could have happened. @melissabuist thanks for loving me and pushing me to be healthy. I’ve got lots of work to do, but I’m willing to do what it takes (within reason) to continue growing old with you. You keep me going. And I will never forget how the love and support @sara_horrell and the KGA Community gave me to keep me going. Who knew a 5th grader would have such an impact on me. Fellas, if you are of the age and you haven’t gotten a prostate exam, run, skip, hop to your primary and get bloodwork. No one. Absolutely no one should die of #prostatecancer.

One of my newer joys in life is coaching boys volleyball! This is my second year coaching boys and I love it! It helps that Wesley is on the team, and I get to have such a front row seat to watching him play! He has become so fun to watch and I seriously love all these boys so much!!! Thanks @junmurella for capturing some moments I don’t get to from the sideline!!

Took a trip to Colorado with my girl so she could see her favorite guy!!! We are beyond proud of you Kaleb and we all love you so much!! Can’t wait for the adventures this journey will take you on!!

This smile…you’ll never understand everything behind this smile. People are always surprised when they learn about what Sara has fought with, because she truly puts everyone above herself. As her mom I may be one of the only people that know how incredibly hard every step of her journey has been for her. She has fought chronic pain from her scoliosis condition and still achieved her goal of playing college volleyball. But sometimes the people who love her most have to put their foot down and she was forced into medical retirement to fix the source of this chronic pain. The pain of the surgery was temporary, the results have been nothing short of a miracle for her. Although the stress of the physical condition and chronic pain for so many years have left her body and brain in a constant state of confusion. That’s the next battle, but she is attacking it like the warrior she truly is! For everyone who has stood by her in this journey, even those she never let know how much she was suffering, I cannot thank you enough! The sport and love of volleyball lives thru her in my teams that she helps coach. Those players have absolutely no idea what they do for her heart and soul. And I could not be more grateful for that. She is a living example of my own mother. The love, beauty, grace, kindness, and all the other things are a true reflection of my mom still being here with me. Her brother Wesley hasn’t always had it easy being the sibling of a sister who has medical battles. He is her biggest support with a heart filled with all the gold and riches a person could possess. Another shining example of my mother’s heart. Sara is not just a warrior but my hero! Here’s to your one year spineversary!! You are so loved!!
