Someone kindly gave me a box of mini logs to see if I could use them for my crafts. I thought I would practice free motion embroidery to make Christmas decorations. These are for the couple that gave me the logs, but I think everyone will be getting them for Christmas now 😁 I love a cute project that uses scrap bits of fabric, especially the gorgeous @tilda fabric it seems a crime to throw bits away.
I will be practicing this lovely technique at any opportunity to master it. I would love to do a day course with @sarahbecvardesign who is the queen of free motion embroidery, it is definitely on my to do list.

This bowl from @paperthinmoon has been on my wish list for a while and yesterday, not only did I have the privilege to buy it but also to meet Peter, the seventh generation potter who made it and his wonderful family at their home in Heathfield.

Claire, Peter's daughter and I have been chatting on Instagram for a while. Her taste is exquisite and she herself creates beautiful botanic prints from dried flowers. What a warm welcome we received at their open house event and what a joy it was to see all their hard work in the flesh.

A pleasure too to meet another Insta friend @sarahbecvardesign with my good friend and naturally gifted amateur photographer @rosyoak (she might not appreciate me saying that) 😈

Although the sweet pea stems have been stunted from the heatwave, they had to star in the first bowl arrangement. What a dreamy combination from sweet peas Aurora borealis and Montpellier with Phlox drumondii creme brûlée.

If only sweet peas lasted longer. The movement and delicacy makes for such beautiful arrangements. The scent from this arrangement is glorious.

I'm excited to keep playing with this beautiful bowl!

Check out @paperthinmoon for more creations from this potter, his daughter and beautiful photography from Claire's lovely husband too.

Sarah @sarahbecvardesign came to Windsor and brought some beautiful flowers from her garden. Over a lovely meal at one of Windsor’s best pubs @twobrewerswindsor we talked about work, travel, family, and life. The conversation flowed effortlessly, and the whole afternoon was simply perfect.

Even when you think you know what you’re doing and have become more comfortable with a new technique, it can be worth it to settle into a class with someone who has more experience.

Learning to embroider using my sewing machine is one of my goals. I’ve muddled through- teaching myself, watching videos and making lots of mistakes. Yesterday I took a class with @sarahbecvardesign. Although I am experienced at sewing many things, I’ve only begun to dip my toe in the machine embroidery pool. I am gaining confidence and am thinking about how I will use this to do even more! And how will I display my work? I have an idea or two. Suggestions?

Stay tuned to this space and my blog to find out what’s next.
