I have not had the TOXIN for four years, so here is what I’m doing to keep my skin nice and smooth-ISH.

I can’t say I don’t have moments where I think, “Oh, I so need some!” But then I think I would be a hypocrite to myself. 🤣🙄 So I don’t. Also @thealternativefacialist would kick my bum if I did 😆

When I had lupus, my skin was a mess with the butterfly rash 🦋and lesions. Even 10 years ago, post-lupus, my pigmentation was rife and my skin texture was all over the place.

I think adding more fibre and carbs in my diet has helped too. I used to be fully keto a decade or so ago.

Finding out that I have a genetic variation that may affect how my body produces or processes glutathione was a huge one for me. Glutathione is a powerful antioxidant that our bodies naturally make, and learning that my genetics could potentially affect how my body handles it was a real eye-opener. 🙄

I don’t drink booze really (I’ve had about 6 drinks in 9 years).

All of this has helped my skin glow.

Seeing these three women for facials has helped too:

And, of course, my PRP, which has been awesome for my pigmentation and tightness with @dr.alli.aesthetics @editionclinic_

I think now that we’re stepping into autumn, it’s really time to reclaim that glow.

For years, I’ve stood on stages talking about science.

This time, I had to stand on a stage and talk about myself.

Without question, this was the most difficult talk I’ve ever given.

Not because I didn’t know the subject, but because the subject was my own life.

I shared the journey that completely changed the direction of who I am. The signs I couldn’t ignore. The synchronicities that kept appearing. The psychedelic experiences that challenged everything I thought I knew. And the science that helped me understand that perhaps these experiences deserve curiosity rather than dismissal.

Before I walked on stage, I questioned whether I should even give this talk. It felt far more exposing than anything I’d done before.

But something happened afterwards that reminded me exactly why I had to.

Person after person came up to share their own stories. Stories they’d never spoken about publicly. Stories they’d kept hidden because they were afraid of being judged.

In that moment, I realised this wasn’t really about me.

It was about creating permission.

Permission to ask difficult questions.
Permission to explore experiences we can’t always explain.
Permission to bridge science with spirituality rather than forcing them to exist in separate worlds.

If my story helps even one person feel a little less alone, a little more understood, or a little more open to their own journey, then every vulnerable moment on that stage was worth it.

This is only the beginning.

Thank you to everyone who listened with an open mind, and an even more open heart. ❤️

Well this was fun… @justbobbidotcom @zoesaldana chit chats with @joebromley_ and 33 of my favourite London facial spots for a summery beauty special.

It’s a hard job but someone has to do it. Thank you @paulscala for the beautiful cover shot 💕💄💅🏼

I am now a nature girl! 😊

A wonderful @mayrlife_official x @drbarbarasturm for the launch of their new 4day anti inflammatrory reset program.

I had such a refreshing time in the company of some brilliant and inspirational women from various areas of the medical, health, beauty and fitness world. I’m sad to say i have been living an extremely inflammatory lifestyle for the last few years both physically, mentally and emotionally and although i only spent 4 days there, i left feeling recharged and inspired. Mayrlife is set on the most magical lake and in the mountains in Austria and i can honestly say i dont think i have been anywhere as beautiful.

With my fish phobia i was adamant i was not getting in the lake … but within an hour of being there, the girls got me in. The water was so clean and clear so i could do a fish reccie first - not one in sight!

We ate a really tasty anti inflammatory diet and i was not hungry at all but i did miss my tea. We swam and hiked around the lake and up into the mountains which was breathtaking (the view but yes, also my fitness 😮‍💨)

The health tests and treatments were really insightful .. not to brag, but i was in fact the first person in two weeks not to have any major intolerances 😝. I particularly loved the spa and the hypoxy training. I actually dont really enjoy having facials because my mind is so busy but my Sturm facial was just absolutely divine.

I should imagine Its the best medical health retreat in the world. I had the best sleep and woke up to wonderful views of the mountains and the sound of nature. Its most still and peaceful place where you can actually feel the energy of the mountains and the land. I wish i could spend two weeks really to do a deep dive into my health and full medical reset.

Three days as an invited guest at the first Anti-Inflammatory Reset with @drbarbarasturm at MAYRLIFE Altaussee ,a reminder that the fundamentals, done well, are the whole game.

I was there for the inaugural run: a collaboration between @mayrlife_official and @drbarbarasturm built around six pillars — gut, blood, skin, body, mind, and sleep. MAYRLIFE brings decades of expertise in gut health and metabolic resilience; Sturm brings a precision anti-inflammatory approach to skin. A properly joined-up reset that addresses inflammation at the source rather than chasing it at the surface.

What it gets right is how ordinary the ingredients are, and how much they matter taken seriously. Anti-inflammatory food prepared with real care at the cooking school. Movement through beautiful country. Bespoke Sturm facials, whose sustained touch and slow rhythm ease the body into the state where it repairs. (I offered a short BioHarmony®️ session by the lake one morning too.)

And the women - doctors, scientists, women’s health champions and Olympian founder @yusramardini.
We hiked, swam in cold water, explored, and let the conversation run late.

A few takeaways:

Eat as though the meal is medicine - colour, fibre, less ultra-processed food moves your markers in the right direction.

Get into nature and get a bit cold. (Hormesis)

Choose the edge of your comfort zone. Mild, chosen stress builds resilience that comfort cannot.

Protect human connection like a clinical variable ☺️

Deep gratitude to @drbarbarasturm for including me in this incredible group to experience the first anti inflammatory reset.
