A limewash painting installed in the counselling room of the Whittington Hospital’s neonatal intensive care unit. Circular Salutogenic Design by @houseofgreylondon

“The seeds of Circular Salutogenic Design were sown when I spent time in the hospital having my son and found the strip lighting, and general design did not feed my soul or support me feeling better after the birth. I wanted to feel supported, I wanted the staff to feel supported so they could work to their optimum not pinched and compromised to work in a challenging, stressful environment.” - Louisa Grey, Founder of House of Grey

Join us on Saturday, December 9th, as 1317 Palmetto opens its doors for our seasonal Open Studio.

Participating creatives include: Petersen & Gottelier (design) General Office (architecture), Sarah Lesher (artist/design), Ashley Turner (photographer), Ladypope (handwoven textiles), Stacey Nishimoto (fashion designer / vintage) David Rager / Weekends (design), Mimi Dwyer (director), Ombia Studio (sculptural furniture ), Designers on Holiday (Creative residency) and Elena Stonaker (visual artist).

Once a paint factory, our space has a history connected to LA’s art scene —from punk nightclub in the 80s to film location and fashion studio. Today, our studio may be one of the last remaining cooperative creative spaces in the Arts District.

Join us and our creative community for casual vibes, seasonal drinks, and some holiday cheer from 4-8 pm.

Since the very beginning of working on the Dunes planter, my vision has been to consider sustainability in every step of the process. I’m choosing to use @flexi_hex to ship the hand thrown ceramic pots, as it is as beautiful as it is sustainable 🤍

Who is Sarah Lesher @sarahlesher ? -
-
Born & raised in Humboldt, CA… Sarah has worked in the cannabis industry for about 10 years: she worked as a grower, worked in indoor and outdoor farms, mastered pruning, and has been a relentless cannabis advocate since then. “chill” is inspired by her experience working and breathing weed - she took OG Kush trim and grounded it in a coffee grinder to a fine powder and mixed it with screen print medium. -
-
Congratulations Sarah to your new ventures on your residency this month. L.A. will be missing you. -
-
plywood cabin in the rain will be on view till next week!
