I got to accomplish something pretty awesome this past weekend. My friends and I signed up for 29029 Everesting last year and started training a few months ago. From 6 am Friday until 1 pm Saturday, over 31 hours, we hiked up Whistler Blackcomb mountain. 8 times. For a total elevation gain of 29,029 feet which is the height of Mt Everest. Hiking up a mountain for 31.2 miles. Even with the training, this endurance event was brutally difficult. Certainly the hardest physical thing I’ve ever done. But in the end, we persevered together and got to put on the coveted Red Hat after our final ascent. It was a surreal experience, and I couldn’t have done it without my awesome friends by my side. Also, Kelly Desgrosseilliers took the gondola to the top to meet us up there every time, bring extra supplies, and cheer us on. Her smiling face and cheers helped keep our spirits up. The 29029 coaches and the volunteers on the mountain were incredible during this event. The camaraderie among the 330 participants was amazing. Whistler is beautiful. This was an experience that I will keep forever.
