I put myself in the room.

A room with one of the greatest Australia documentary street photographers bringing surrealism to street photography.

Trent Parke’s work is collected my National Gallery of Australia and all the other major galleries around the nation. He is the only Aussie @magnumphotos photographers and today I learned so much from him and injected the inspiration I’ve been searching for to tell more of my own life stories through my camera.

I have been so caught up in ‘working’ as a photographer there have become fewer and fewer moments I pick up my camera for fun.

I was reminded today to discover life through the camera to explore and ask what’s the story I’m trying to tell. What’s the most important factor in this scene what’s the feeling I’m looking at here.

I want to take moment to discover life and not be so concerned by capturing the perfectly composed and designed image. Instead look for a feeling.

The @nationalgalleryaus education team put on a great experience for us at the beginning of the day doing an exercise to exposure how images make us feel and what memories or senses can be triggered from seeing a single image.

Fabulous day! 🙏

Thank you, @iphotoawards , for an unforgettable week!📸

I’m incredibly grateful to have been part of such a talented and inspiring community of photographers. The experience has been nothing short of amazing — from the insightful feedback to the meaningful connections made along the way.

This week has given me a deeper appreciation for the art of photography and opened my eyes to new perspectives and creative approaches. I feel so inspired by the incredible work I’ve seen and the stories shared by fellow artists.

I still can’t believe how far photography has taken me — to new places, unforgettable experiences, and now to this vibrant community. Thank you to the IPA Awards for this opportunity, and to everyone who shared their knowledge and encouragement throughout the week.

Here’s to continued growth, creativity, and the journey ahead. I’m excited for what’s to come!

Cheers 📸💛
