How was my weekend? Fast and silly!! My face is still sore from smiling so much. Thanks to all of our pals for coming out and the inspiring can-do attitude of @kirbyderbyday. Everyone is so ✨creative✨

Shoutout to my dream team of @pleasecallmecharles @my_names_chuck and @rcain , I can’t believe we got this thing up and running in the time we did. I expressed interest in driving and none of them questioned it, only cheered me on and made sure I was safe🫰🏻 Till next year 🏎️💥

Sarah Rain Hammond @sarierain is a Southern illustrator and designer living in Durham, NC. In her meticulously crafted scenes, Sarah aspires to weave countless narratives, both past and future, reimagining personal histories and projecting new possibilities. Her art serves as a portal to explore the intricacies of existence, often delving into the shadows that shape the human experience.

Drawing from her personal experiences and the vibrant tapestry of Louisiana and Central Mississippi, Sarah’s art is imbued with a sense of place and culture. Her imagery reflects the rich landscapes, diverse histories, and unique stories that have shaped her perspective.

Chef Bhatt was the perfect person to be the face of our Mississippi Changemakers issue. A southern transplant, he made Oxford his home. Named "Best Chef in the South" by the @beardfoundation in 2019, you can try his Indian-inspired, southern dishes at @snackbaroxford—but his impact goes far beyond the kitchen. ⁠

A little about the artist:
Sarah Rain Hammond, a native of New Orleans, Louisiana, earned her BFA with a concentration in painting from the University of Mississippi. Today, she calls Raleigh, North Carolina, home, where she works as an illustrator and graphic designer.

In her meticulously crafted scenes, Sarah aspires to weave countless narratives, both past and future, reimagining personal histories and projecting new possibilities. Her art serves as a portal to explore the intricacies of existence, often delving into the shadows that shape the human experience.

Drawing from her personal experiences and the vibrant tapestry of Louisiana and Central Mississippi, Sarah’s art is imbued with a sense of place and culture. Her imagery reflects the rich landscapes, diverse histories, and unique stories that have shaped her perspective.

Your most favoritist stationary bike race and indoor cycling spectating event will be going down this Thurdsay evening. You should probably be there. We'll be drawing names at random for a head to head bracket until the last racer is standing!

Heart rates will be spiking right around 7:30 pm, with the bar open downstairs. Winner gets bragging rights and a couple high fives. 🖐

It's the most fun you can have without going anywhere!

Sarah Rain Hammond is a Louisiana native who received her BFA with an emphasis in painting from @olemiss , and now works as a freelance illustrator and graphic designer in Raleigh, NC.

She focuses on developing endless narratives, telling thousands of stories through detailed scenes with the goal of rewriting personal histories and projecting possible futures. Her work aims to tackle the darker complexities of life and create a whimsical space that allows those taboo topics to be an open conversation. Her inspirations and imagery are drawn from her personal experiences and life growing up in the Deep South.
