I have the prettiest design wall right now. I’m starting to get sad that it will be gone as I finish it up. BUT I am pattern testing for @rachelsblockparty right now. She’s going to have this adorable apple zippy pouch pattern coming out next month. I’m sewing on 4 hours of sleep and so I honked mine up a wee bit BUT the girls are still fighting over it because …. The #justicefornolanwells quilt top and backing are coming together 😊 I was able to use at least one block from each of the 27 people who donated. Unfortunately, 5 donations didn’t make the cut, either bc there was less than a 1/4” seam allowance or the fabrics didn’t play well with the others. I appreciate the effort made by all 🖤 As previously stated, 18 stars will go on the front, and 12 stars will be on the back. I have tried my best to tag everyone who contributed. The cowgirl is heading home tomorrow, on her horse, with her bear, and her tiger, with a pack of matches so she can burn the whole thing down with all the feminine rage the 6 of us have created in the last 6 months. This quilt is amazing and my photos don’t do it justice. It’s almost as big as a king-sized top sheet. I can’t wait to see her quilted. This October, to honor National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, I am giving away a custom, handmade quilt! The Quilt's Story: This quilt was created during a #beeacraftivist Sewing Bee! Working on the last of our round robin quilts!! This one is for Pam!!! I’ve been busy with Girl Scouts and now stuff with my parents. This design wall is just CALLING to me!!! #BestNestRoundRobin2026 #Resist #FuckThePatriarchy #TheMatriarchyWouldNEVER! PS - my girls slept over at the Science Center in our town and learned so much about space, coding, and astronomy. THIS is what those cookies pay for. THIS is what the donations help fund. These girls were in such a small group, less than 30 girls allowed to be wild and silly and fun. This is a big deal for these self-conscious middle schoolers. Girl Scouts is such a rad program and thank you to my friends that supported our teeny troop last year. I adore you all!! There are so many of you that are kind and so, so generous about my girls. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.💚

Thank goodness @sasquatch.stitches clued me in to @sockeye_quilt and their effort to make a raffle quilt to raise funds to aid trans people leaving Idaho. Sending these inverse economy blocks to be included. Deadline is 9/30/2026 to submit, if you feel so inclined. I think it’s hard to be trans anywhere in this country but some places are so much harder, or more dangerous, than others. I want each to find safe harbor to be able to live as their authentic selves.

I need to get some closeups of this one to share, it here she is in all of her glory. This one is Jan’s, she did the center egg. The second round was made by @little_girl_seamstress , the upper and outer left-hand portion was contributed by @applebottomseams and then I made the row at the bottom. I hope it was okay that I added a little pop of neon…. Maybe more than a pop. Also, pink is a neutral in this house 💅. #TheBestNestRoundRobin2026 #BeeBlocks

Ahhhhh and she’s done!!! I got caught up this month!! Yay!! This one was so hard for me to photograph. Also I know @instagram is stupid and will make it look even worse. Making progress with hopes to finish this cutie before school pickup today. Yesterday was spent foraging some local fabric stores to find something that would make me happy. I wanted an orange Starry fabric that would match our rodeo gal’s hair and Cayenne was exactly that! Thank you @aquiltersoasis 👏 and thank you to @bernina_connection for having the pink RSS I ended up using for sashing. Ah, that was cathartic. My addition to this #resistanceroundrobin quilt is the abstract column of graffiti fucks along the right. I feel like this quilt, of all of our round robin group of them, shines with each of our personalities. @sasquatch.stitches is the center, @little_girl_seamstress is the full round around it, Sam (private account) is the embroidery along the top and left, and @silverlinedstitches is the roaring pink tiger and Roy Kent fuuuuuck along the bottom. @amilbedil gets it next to finish it all off. As to the why of my addition? I’ve made a couple of sweary quilts now, and while the first one was stressful because of the why (the extremely rapid destruction of our systems of government during the first 100 days, including the capitulation by universities, law firms, and businesses), it was also stressful because I didn’t know how people were going to react. Would I be shunned? Would people unfollow me? My mother would probably have a fit (she did). Maybe there were some unfollows, but overwhelmingly (and I do mean overwhelmingly!) people were enthusiastically appreciative of it. But a few voices kept saying the word brave, or, I wish I could, or I could never, and it got me thinking about how lucky I am to be middle age old now with no fear of employer retaliation and a good circle of friends and family who might roll their eyes but know I’m doing what I’m doing because of *all the reasons*. And I started to think what would I do if we really lose our first amendment rights? Would I stop? What if I could start quilting in code. What if the words just flowed together and made a new pattern? What would that look like? Would other people find a way to be “brave” and quilt their words along with me? Honestly I hope we never find out. But if we do, I’ll be quilting in code until they drag me away. I hope I won’t be alone. The letters are based on the “Wonky Alphabet” by kelbysews on Etsy. I needed my letters to fit the specific length of the quilt and I couldn’t get the math to math, so I ended up drawing very similar ones in Quilt Assistant to get my exact measurements.
