August took me to Philadelphia and New York City! Work brought me to Philadelphia for the LEAD conference. (Leadership Exchange in Arts and Disability) I learned so much and made so many new connections! Since I was in Philly...I took myself to NYC for a weekend full of shows and friends! (@shuntelof10 and @cozzonick are not pictured but just as important!) I spent most of the rest of August recovering from a bug I picked up traveling. Luckily I recovered enough to see Shakes in the Wild! Ended the month by finally getting my color touched up by @soultreehairstudio! 💜💜💜

This week a new adventure begins…Welcome (Back) To The Rock! 💙✈️ . I’m pleased to have joined the Stages St. Louis production of this AlénaWattersrue story of 7,000 stranded airline passengers and the small town(s) in Newfoundland that opened its doors to them on September 11, 2001 and the days to follow. This musical is a powerful, deeply moving celebration of community, kindness, and the best of humanity during a dark time. We all need reminders right now about the importance of our shared humanity and connection. . #WelcomeToTheRock #ComeFromAway #STAGESStLouis #BeverleyBass #AlénaWatters

Sing For Your Seniors held a special Broadway Session at The SAGE Center featuring members of the original Broadway cast of Beaches The Musical, alongside special guests, for an unforgettable afternoon of music. Broadway vet and Sing For Your Seniors Board member Daniel Torres—who will soon be joining The SAGE Center as an intern supporting their mental health services—opened the program with “Glory of Love” from the film “Beaches.” Broadway’s Aléna Watters, who was  one of Bette Midler’s celebrated “Harlettes” (backup singers), delighted the audience with Bette’s rendition of Cole Porter’s “I’ve Still Got My Health.” Cast members of Beaches The Musical performed selections from the show, including “My Best” and “Brand New Me,” accompanied by Associate Conductor Jodi Moore on piano. The audience was then treated to some personal favorites from the cast, including Lael Van Keuren’s heartfelt performance of “The Life I Never Led,” Ben Jacoby’s captivating rendition of the timeless classic “On the Street Where You Live,” and Stephanie Martignetti’s charming performance of “”But Not For Me”. Daniel then brought everyone together with a spirited sing-along of “Under the Boardwalk,” before Aléna closed the session with a moving rendition of “Wind Beneath My Wings” that brought many audience members to tears. The impact of the afternoon was evident in the audience’s response. One couple shared how meaningful it was to have access to live performances like this. Another senior, Robin, remarked that although he always enjoys the musical programming offered through The SAGE Center, he was especially delighted to experience professional Broadway performers sharing their talents with the community. #music #broadway #beachesthemusical #community #seniorliving
