WORKING THE AMERICAN NIGHTMARE | October 20, 2026

What happens when law enforcement professionals from across South Carolina come together to examine a harrowing case, challenge assumptions, and strengthen the way they serve their communities?

Investigative skills are sharpened. Important conversations take place. Lessons become practical tools for better decision-making, stronger investigations, and more effective support for victims.

This week, SASS Go welcomed 40 participants representing 17 organizations, including 13 law enforcement agencies, to Newberry College for Working the American Nightmare, featuring Denise Huskins and Aaron Quinn, whose true story is told in the Netflix documentary American Nightmare.

Through firsthand accounts, real-world scenarios, and candid conversations, participants explored investigative judgment, interviewing, trauma, bias, and leadership.

To the law enforcement professionals who joined us: Thank you for proactively sharpening your skills, challenging assumptions, and seeking a deeper understanding of the people you serve. It is professionals like you who help make our communities not only safer, but stronger.

To @huskins.denise and Aaron: Thank you for the courage to turn profound injustice into meaningful change. Your story and the lessons you shared will reach far beyond this room, shaping future calls, interviews, and investigations, improving how victims are treated and how justice is pursued.

And to @newberry_college, thank you for graciously hosting us and helping make this training possible.

Better training. Stronger systems. Safer communities.

South Carolina is building The Banks.

The Banks is a campus for healing survivors, supporting families, and training the professionals who serve them.

Our 2026 On The Banks Gala marked a milestone celebratory evening with nearly $100,000 raised, extraordinary partners at every table, and a clear path forward.

We are grateful for the endorsement of SC @govhenrymcmaster, and the shared commitment across South Carolina to bring The Banks to life.

The momentum is here.

#LetsBuildTheBanks

More than movement!

Thank you to @sassgoglobal and @sassgojen for leading such an incredible self-defense class for our community. Our clients walked away with practical techniques, increased confidence, and tools they can carry with them long after the class ended.

We loved seeing everyone learn, grow, and step outside of their comfort zones in such a supportive environment. Thank you to everyone who joined us!

Last week we had the gift of being able to train these sweet girls at @benlippenschool for their winterim! Each year Ben Lippen students get to choose from a variety of experiences to engage in for a week! We are so excited they chose to spend theirs with us! This week these girls learned how to physically defend themselves, they learned about every day safety, the power of using their voices and about healthy relationships. These girls are full of heart and so very strong!! They worked so hard and we are so grateful to have watched them shine this week!

Super awesome evening as our Healthy Happens Here Columbia Community collaborated with @sassgojen and the SASS GO organization! We were reminded of truth - we are fearfully & wonderfully made - and filled with strength and power! We have choices each day to be proactive with our body, mind and spirit! We as women do have a voice! I encourage every teen girl and woman to experience this training when given the opportunity! Be empowered, be educated and well trained! It was a joy to encourage and challenge each woman to not only be proactive in learning self awareness and self defense but also proactive in their physical health and how they nourish and care for their bodies! We have choices each day and opportunities to invest in ourselves and fuel well so we can be all God created us to be!

I encourage every woman to be proactive…not reactive. Make choices each day toward being a woman filled with strength from within to live confidently and care thoughtfully for the body God has given you! Can’t wait to collaborate again with SASS GO and offer more of this to our community! 🤍💪🏼👊🏼
