Sometimes it takes a long walk to become the person you were meant to be.

In our conversation, Drew reflected on a decade of loss, new beginnings, mistakes, rebuilding, and a spiritual journey that shaped both the man and the music.

“I feel like I’ve finally become the man that I was meant to be.”

ELOHIM tells the story of that walk. Hearing Drew speak about it gives the record another layer.

If you've ever helped someone and then felt the weight of their thank-you, this one's for you.

I asked Drew McManus of @satsang what he actually feels when someone tells him his music got them through the worst of it. First word out: gratitude. Then he admitted it used to make him really uncomfortable.

What changed it was his ex-wife's uncle Chris, a Buddhist, who watched a whole sold-out show in Seattle from the balcony, locked in on Drew while everyone else danced. Last night of the tour, Drew's at the merch booth signing everything. Chris cuts the line, kisses him on the cheek, says one sentence, and walks away.

"The healing is real, the adoration is not."

Drew's carried it as a mantra ever since. The healing belongs to the listener. He didn't do anything. They did. All he prays for is to be useful while he's here.

Episode 77 of The Drop the Needle Podcast is out now. Link in bio.

Garcia's Chicago, November 4th. I'll be there.

He spent a decade listening to @satsang Now he’s joining the tour.

@brianernstmusic noticed an opening and reached out.

But he wasn’t just asking for a favor. He brought 18 years of touring experience and a clear offer: a solo looping musician who could help sell tickets.

“They gave me a shot.”

I sat down with Brian to talk about the life behind that moment, from street performing to touring with his family and building songs live, one layer at a time.
