At 2:08 pm my beautiful wife became my baby mama!! Henry Jerome Stalets is 7lbs 10oz, 20” long and loves the tit. Noelle got through the surgery like a champ. A nurse told her she’s never seen anyone handle that operation so well! When I heard Henry’s first cry I knew his voice. When I looked over the curtain I recognized him and my heart busted open and flooded with light. Hallelujah!

As we age it becomes impossible to ignore each year passes by a little quicker than the one before it. The elders said this would happen. They say we all have two lives, the second one begins when we realize we only have one.
After I almost went to prison, everything important to me became more refined. It also unlocked a new fear; Jobs and landlords can now legally discriminate against me, and more importantly that affects how I can take care of my family. That sort of lit a fire under my ass and gave me a chip on my shoulder. Finding good work and housing is already hard enough, and I’m a frickin straight white male! I’ve got privileges damn it!
Each year’s been great in its own regard. Filled with the highs and lows that make this the human experience I’m glad to participate in. However, each year it was becoming harder to ignore that I wasn’t taking the steps towards what I wanted. A family, owning a home so no one can kick us out, playing more shows with my hero’s, riding BMX like I’m a kid again. I needed to marry the lady who’s seen me at my most precarious and taught me what unconditional love really looks like. Most importantly, I needed to show my gratitude for it all and I didn’t want to be afraid to call it god. Being self serving wasn’t really serving me anymore.
This last year I’m proud to say that I’ve made good on all those promises. I’ve had high highs (getting married & getting Noelle pregnant, purchasing our home, playing the best shows of my life, riding bikes more, etc.). I’ve had low lows - but this year I reached out to my community and got a new psychiatrist when my anxiety became too much to shoulder and I recognized I’d been settling for less for way too long. I was scared to change it up, but I’m so grateful that I did.
All these things have me incredibly grateful, optimistic and excited about the future. I love you all and I’m grateful for you! You’re going to help raise and shape Henry!!!
Here’s to 37 more years of learning, changing, being humbled, loving and gratitude. God bless this mess!
