200 Medley Relay STATE CHAMPIONS

Cougars Zach (back), Grant (breast), Brady (Fly), and Grayson (free) dominated the field by over a second, with standout performances from each man.

In a pure class act, these young men walked out in Cal Poly swim and dive gear as a way to honor the program, which was cut in 2025, and make a bigger statement about college programs being cut across the country. Coach Kim Carlson who has helped coach Cuesta the full 2026 season(2025 men’s big west coach of the year) was key to the success of this sprint relay, and this stands as a tribute to her efforts. Grant Huston also shares family ties to the program, his brother Drew won the 200 backstroke for the mustangs at their conference championships in 2024 and 2025.

@calpoly: starting Womens STUNT and Flag Football won’t keep a Court from requiring you to reinstating the Women’s Swimming Team!! That’s because THEY ARE DISCRIMINATING AGAINST WOMEN THAT BADLY!! 🤦‍♀️
— “We don’t have enough money” — is not a reason to treat women like 2nd class students, behind their male peers.
— “The House Anti-Trust Settlement is costing us $$!!” is not a defense to intentional sex discrimination.
— cal poly: If you want our tax dollars to educate the next generation - you’re required to provide EQUALITY for men and women. Yes! Including sports!
— Have you SEEN the differences by men’s and women’s facilities? 🤦‍♀️
@sedonaprince would be shocked.
Men, time to stand up for your classmates!

Women at @calpoly need almost 39% more sports opportunities… Or 141 more … to be receiving athletic opportunities equal to men’s.
If an average team is 25 athletes… (some more, some less) 141 equates to about five or six new teams.
— Student athletes don’t know or appreciate their rights against sex discrimination under Title IX. Women are entitled to the same athletic opportunities, scholarship dollars, and treatment and benefits that schools provide male athletes… Including football 🏈 basketball 🏀 and baseball ⚾️.

Cal Poly, the House Settlement, Women's Swimming and Title IX - Houston, we have a problem!

We analyze potential Title IX violations at Cal Poly, focusing on the women's swim program's shutdown. The video breaks down allegations of discrimination concerning athletic participation, scholarships, and benefits. We examine the demand letter and financial constraints, and their impact on the university's compliance with the law. See the full podcast - and subscribe - here: https://youtu.be/gl878CFra3I

Cal Poly has dismantled its men's and women's swimming programs citing the House Settlement as the rationale. Equity IX Sports Laws and Champion Women sent a letter to Cal Poly's president demanding that women's swimming be reinstated and alleging multiple Title IX violations, which the letter lays out in detail. It's a strong letter. We will see how Cal Poly responds. I predict that the intersection of Title IX and the House Settlement will continue to be ripe for dispute. Have a listen.#titleix #calpoly #womenssports #swimming
