Ole Nanner is on the board just in time before the season ends here in Alabama.

She headed out around 5 AM while her dad, Buddy Stafford, stayed back to watch the grandkids. The weather wasn’t in her favor, but she trusted it would slack up—and that the birds would step out to dry off.

And they did.

At 7:05, this Alabama bird was flopping!

Not just any tom—this guy was double bearded (10” and 8”) with 1 1/8” spurs, one growing backwards.
Pretty special bird for not only Sav, but he is the biggest bird taken off of our camp in lower Alabama.

Congratulations Savannah on your biggest bird to date!!

Granddaughter Adleigh Gunthorpe harvested her first turkey today at just 6 years old. 🦃

This girl is a straight-up killing machine. From slaying coons year-round, to knocking down her first deer this past season (and then some), and now putting her name on the board with her first turkey.

She headed out early this morning with her mom, Savannah Stafford and Pawpaw Buddy Stafford (the boss man) with one goal — kill a turkey. But turkey hunting ain’t for the weak. It’s heat, long sits, and a whole lot of patience.

She got bored. She was hot. She was hungry. Even took a 45-minute break to grab a bite. Came back, heat setting in, ready to call it quits… but her mom told her to stick it out just a little longer.

And moments later… it all came together.

AND MAN DID SHE SMOKE HIM.

That long morning paid off the right way.

Patience. Patience. Patience. If you don’t have it — turkey hunting just ain’t for you.

Congratulations, Adleigh — welcome to the turkey killin’ club, girl!!!!
