And what a way to start the weekend…

This Friday, Stu Freestone & The Lights return at the gorgeous @rise_bluebird at Bluebird Bakery, Acomb in York for our final band show of the year.

An evening of poetry, folk, storytelling, music, laughter and probably a few things that weren’t in the original plan. I mean, I’d rather be honest. 🤣

We’ll be joined by the superb @isadora.darling, who’ll be opening the night with her beautiful songs and stories.

Doors at 7pm.
🎟️ Tickets still available and you can also grab them on the door.
As a drunken Delia Smith once said…”Let’s be havin’ you!”

Come and spend your Friday night with us and step into the lights.

love x

Two more chances to catch me live in York on the tour.

📍 29 September — Angel on the Green
📍 9 October — Rise @ Bluebird

As you’ll know I’m taking The Lights That Blur Between back out on the road for a load of shoes but on TWO IN YORK!
Two very different nights of poems, stories, music, laughs and all the lovely stuff in between.

You can expect two different sets at each show, so if you’ve been meaning to come along, this is your nudge.
These shows will be 🔥🔥🔥 so get your tickets from the link in my bio!

Come say hello, bring a mate, and let’s make a night of it. ❤️

THE SECOND PART OF THE TOUR STARTS TOMORROW! 🚐💨

After a little break, I’m heading back out on the road with The Lights That Blur Between for another big old run of shows.

From Thirsk to Huddersfield, Peterborough to Stamford, Lancaster to Nottingham and a few York shows thrown in, there are plenty of chances to catch me somewhere near you.

Some solo shows. Some full band. Some with the brilliant @simonecirofocarelli creating live soundscapes, some massive band sets as ‘Stu Freestone And The Lights’ and even a show with support from the wonderful @isadora.darling.

Basically… a lot of poems, a lot of miles, and hopefully a lot of familiar faces and some new ones too!

Really excited to be venturing out with this book again and sharing these words, stories and songs with you.

I can’t wait to see your faces on the road. ❤️

Check the poster for all the dates and details and if you’re coming along, let me know where I’ll be seeing you!

love x

HERE’S ANOTHER ONE FOR YOU!

Tuesday 29th September
@angelonthegreen

I’ve been invited to grace the stage at Angel on the Green with a load of new poems as well as stuff from my book ‘The Lights That Blur Between’.
Excited to tryout a few of the newer poems and pieces I’ve not really performed from the book too.

The second part of the set I’ll be accompanied by my incredibly talented pals ‘The Lights’, where we’ll be giving a small taster of what you can expect on our massive double set show at Rise in York on October 9th, supported by @isadora.darling.

Just a little something to wet your whistle.

Tickets for this show are on sale now from SeeTickets and the link in my bio.

This is going to be super fun, a chance for ‘new shit’ and a preview on what’s to come with the band.
Buzzing to see the Bishy Road crew!

On 1st July, @___farahchamma brought her poetry and performance to @rise_bluebird as part of a night organised by @sayowt, who regularly platform Palestinian poets and bring vital real-world perspectives from the region. Following sets from @henry_raby and polyphonic storytelling duo @adderstone.duo, Farah delivered a performance moving between languages, resistance, tenderness and humour.

A polyglot performer, Farah explores the relationships between language, borders, identity, religion, movement and the body. Her performance moves from the intimate to the political, from stories of Gaza to reflections on dialect and colonialism, while refusing to separate resistance from love, joy and humour.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

‘Politically alert... emotionally direct... Davies is a compelling storyteller. With the most authentic voice. Wood’s music creates a restless undertow beneath her words...spare, tender and ominous. The collaboration is beautifully judged.’

‘The production asks what happens when access to nature is no longer understood as part of human life, but as something granted or denied by those with power. It also asks what becomes of us when our connection to land, sea, body and history is severed. It is a work inspired by ancient myth, but made unmistakably in Yorkshire.’
