The client’s love of Moroccan color and texture was the starting point for this Connecticut family room. Deep ocean blue grasscloth set the tone, with rich textiles, pattern, and collected pieces throughout. I love how those influences sit within the character of a traditional Connecticut home. It gives the room so much warmth and personality.

In this interior primary bathroom at our Modernist Penthouse project, the challenge was to keep the room as large and open as possible. I split the room with a floor to ceiling bronze metal and glass wall, detailed to echo the streamlined windows of the 1930s. It separates the two halves of the bath without closing either one off. Oversized glass and bronze French Deco sconces bring in warmth and a bit of glamour, and the tub, centered on the wall opposite the vanity sinks, is carved from a single piece of white marble. For storage, I designed a custom toiletries cabinet in walnut and goatskin, which contrasts with the cool tones of the light blue matte tile and white marble. Every choice in this room was in service of the same goal: timeless, luxurious, and steeped in that 1930s modernist feeling.

Back with Part 2 of my @worldmarket walkthrough! You can find some pretty kooky things here (and I certainly did), but there are always some great finds mixed in. Here’s what else caught my eye!

The @kappatablescapes event kicked off tonight at the Dallas Country Club which featured gorgeous and over the top table settings for your next dinner party ! Obsessed with @kristensheffey ‘s gorgeous blue and white theme with perfect details and @gardengate_dallas ‘s bird theme was a stand out with live canarys as part of the decor !

Fall is here, and I’ve always felt that seasonal decorating should last longer than a single holiday. I like to bring in the feeling of fall through deeper colors, warm candlelight, natural textures, and a few unexpected pieces that feel collected. The best part is that they can stay in place well beyond Halloween.

I’m sharing more of my approach to fall decorating in The Witching Hour blog, along with a ShopMy edit of pieces I love for bringing that same feeling into your home. Find both through the link in bio.

Years ago, an Italian friend gave my husband and I this Murano glass decanter shaped like a Phylloxera, the tiny insect that devastated European vineyards in the 19th century. I’ll admit, at first I thought it was a little odd.

Over the years, I’ve grown to love it. There’s something wonderfully ironic about using the very pest that nearly destroyed European wine production as a vessel for wine. It’s unusual, has a great story, and has become one of those objects I would never part with.

Looking back, this is a project that still really speaks to me. I’ve always been drawn to richer, more grounded tones, and I love how warm and inviting this home feels.

The family came from the East Coast, and preserving that sensibility was important. Muted colors, depth, and a sense of history give the home a collected, timeless quality.

It’s Pumpkin Spice Latte season, my favorite time of year. Pumpkin represents the warmth and richness of the autumn season. In my interiors, this color is a sophisticated accent when layered with intention. Moving through three different rooms in this home, we used it to tie the spaces together.

A bedroom designed with quiet color. Gray, cream, taupe and plum move through the space as one continuous thread, grounding clean lines and simple furniture silhouettes. Quiet, casual luxury was our intention for this Connecticut primary suite design.

A family room Nancy Meyers would approve of. Blues, tans, rich woods, and traditional silhouettes, nothing precious about any of it. We designed this room for real living, the kind that never goes out of style.

Some history is worth protecting through a full renovation. This house went down to the studs and came back with renewed traditional detail, from the moldings to the proportions that made this house special. This foyer sets the tone as you enter, and the classic feel continues to the upstairs enlarged primary bathroom. A gut renovation carefully considering and celebrating the homes history.
