SCAD Women’s Empowerment Club has partnered with @scadmanor and @scaddistrict to celebrate Women’s History Month with “The Green Light on Intersectional Feminism” which delves into what it means to be an intersectional feminist and what that looks like for scad students! You can find the links to the two articles in our bio or the bios of @scadmanor and @scaddistrict ❣️

“Intersectional feminism is making a pivotal resurgence, not as a trend but as a form of self-expression. Intersectionality defines the variation of personal identities within feminism, challenging antiquated interdictions of damaging social dynamics.” -Anna Vescovi

✨Officially a SCAD Alumni! ✨
I honestly haven’t been able to post this for a while because I didn’t know what to say. It’s hard to celebrate now. Our accomplishments seem so small in comparison to the unrest in the world. This is our time to take charge and make the change we want to see in the world. This is our time to stand up for what’s right, stand up for equality, stand up against racism, stand up for our planet, stand up for social education and progression, stand up for those who can’t. There is much work to be done and we are the catalysts. Stay strong and keep standing up for what we need and VOTE VOTE VOTE
As for graduation, I have so much gratitude for the people in my life who helped me get here and supported me along the way. Cheers to the future and cheers to all of us, thank you for helping us celebrate from around the world!🎉🐝🎓 #scadgrad #scadalumni #classof2020 #scadbees #standup

So excited to talk with illustrator & painter Britt Spencer on Instagram Live tomorrow, Tuesday, June 9 at 11 a.m.! Based in Savannah, GA, Britt Spencer received a BFA in Illustration & an MFA in Painting from the SCAD where he is currently an Illustration Professor.
Spencer has provided illustrations for more than 100 publications internationally including Newsweek, GQ, Readers Digest & Garden & Gun, illustrated three children's books & a 200-page graphic novel. His work has earned recognition from the Society of Illustrators New York, the Society of Illustrators West, Communication Arts, New American Paintings & Art Prize's Juried Short List. "Impotent Narratives" is an ongoing series of paintings by Spencer that explore passive storytelling. Spencer maintains the look of narrative without being concerned with a linear path towards communication. The work is purposefully evasive & thereby counter-illustrative. In the end, they have the structure of story but no ability to get the audience anywhere meaningful. The starting content of each painting in this series is influenced largely by relationship issues between adults & children. Namely the collision of reason & wonder, expectation & responsibility, fatalism & free will. Along the way, Spencer abandons this now flattened inspiration & drifts into formalistic concerns, concentrating on line, shape, color, etc. We hope to see you there! #artisttalk #brittspencer #illustrator #contemporaryartist #southernartist #artcollector #boldandcolorful #atlantaartgallery #artlover
