Had to take a break from the self imposed SM ban to reflect (even more!) & share on last Saturday night ๐Ÿคฉ It has to be up there among one of the best nights of my life! Planned several months in advance - as soon as I saw this announced, I bought tickets as I could not believe how reasonable they were. Pic taken at 3.20am after 4 hours of a 57 year old woman dancing to a DJ set by the one & only @johngrantofficial for @scaredtodance at @shacklewellarms in Dalston โค๏ธ๐Ÿ’ซ Yeah, I donโ€™t think I look very well at the moment. I have big dark circles under my eyes & I canโ€™t wear any eye makeup just now. Hoping to make some health changes that will improve things later in the summer. I felt relaxed, safe & fully able to be myself, move how I wanted to & feel joy in my body & heart as I heard many of my favourite tracks on a dancefloor for the first time ever. First 30 minutes felt like we were in a Berlin night club, with cool, moody repetitive techno beats - warm up! Then โ€ฆ Donna Summer, I Feel Love ๐Ÿคฉ (natural progression) And we were off! ๐Ÿš€ We inadvertently ended up very nicely positioned in a little enclave between the bar & the DJ booth which wasnโ€™t a thoroughfare, so we didnโ€™t really get disturbed much. Highlights of the night for me were hearing Vitamin C by Can on a proper system for the first time ever - I danced with my eyes closed for the whole song ๐Ÿ’ซ Neu, seeing the crowd go wild to โ€˜Love Will Tear Us Apartโ€™ ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ˜ and get all the timings wrong on โ€˜Psychokillerโ€™ ๐Ÿ˜‚ (see last slide) Having spent the majority of my nights out in clubs since the mid 1990s at dance & house nights, this was a really welcome & refreshing experience. There were plenty of people our age & I think older. And obviously much younger people too! Everyone just enjoying the vibe, moving as much or as minimally as they wanted, no-one ruining everything for everyone else, everyone smiling & there for the music & dancing. Some properly glammed up, others (me!) dressed for ease & comfort! In a vest, cotton skirt & trainers! And all of this on tap water!๐Ÿ’งIts the only way to maintain pace! What a brilliant night, crowd & vibe! โœจโœจโœจ #techno #disco #newwave #postpunk
