It’s time to share this week’s new blog post…
I’m pleased to share a new episode of Dispatches from the Ambient Label Hub!

As a recap, these episodes rotate either Adrian Newton of @evergreenmusicuk Andrew Heath (Driftworks), James Osland (Elm) or I over the course of an hour’s runtime. Each month the show starts with a challenge set by a presenter in the previous month’s show. Then in the second half, the other presenter picks up with a range of Ambient sounds from the wider scene.

So in this show, which aired on Pyrenees-based @listen.camp last week, Andrew had the challenge of presenting Ambient music centred around field recordings. Then James shares a sublime set of recent discoveries.

Pour un Instant, the new EP by @throughaiko & @scattered____light , is now available.

Born from a spontaneous exchange of piano recordings between both artists, the release unfolds through delicate textures, tape-processed atmospheres and subtle harmonic fragments, shaping two pieces suspended between darkness and the first light of dawn.

Minimal, intimate and evocative, Pour un Instant captures those fleeting moments that exist just before the day begins.

Thank you all for your support during the pre-order. I hope you enjoy the full EP.

In the meantime, we are already working on the next Noray Records release — a very special and quite different project that I’m looking forward to sharing with you soon.

Today the pre-order for Pour un Instant, the new collaborative EP by Aiko Takahashi & Scattered Light, is now available.

The release emerged from a spontaneous exchange of piano recordings between both artists, gradually transformed through tape textures, granular synthesis and delicate harmonic fragments into a suspended, intimate and contemplative sonic landscape.

Throughout these pieces, memory, silence and repetition gently intertwine, creating a space somewhere between fragility and stillness.

Recorded & Produced by @throughaiko & @scattered____light
Mastered by Ian Hawgood
Cover by Scattered Light

The EP will be officially released on June 12th.

Thank you, as always, for listening and supporting Noray.

Today I’m very happy to share with you the new release and, at the same time, to warmly welcome @scattered____light to the label with Pour un Instant, a collaborative work alongside @throughaiko , to be released on June 12th.

The EP emerged from a spontaneous exchange of piano recordings between both artists, pieces that gradually became surrounded by tape textures, granular synthesis and small harmonic fragments until they transformed into a suspended, intimate and contemplative landscape.

Aiko Takahashi develops an especially delicate body of work between Japan and Europe, exploring the relationship between memory, silence and sonic material through treated piano, environmental recordings and magnetic tape textures.

Meanwhile, Scattered Light works from an approach centered around loops, repetition and granular manipulation, creating meditative and diffused atmospheres inspired by forgotten broadcasts and emotional landscapes.

The pre-order will be available this coming Friday, June 5th.

Thanks, as always, for listening and supporting.

Hope you enjoy it.

🗞️ new on the blog….

5 Albums For Cold Mornings
As chosen by @clariloops

This week’s blog is a guest post by Ruby Ester Mae who records as Clariloops. Based in Melbourne in Australia, Ruby tells me that there’s a real cold snap down under at the moment - so she’s selected five albums to accompany cold mornings.

She’s selected some excellent records, has written a sentence or so about each of them and then I’ve embedded Bandcamp players of a track in the blog post for each album so that you can quickly check them out.

No doubt some of these selections may already be familiar to you...but if not and we connect one person with one of these records it’ll have been time well spent

I loved speaking to Australian producer Nick Simpson, also known as @scattered____light, recently. I found his music after the release of his first album in 2021 and was instantly engaged by his gorgeous sounds. We spoke about his musical process, his studio set up and his wide range of inspirations.
- Ruby Ester Mae (@clariloops)

“Just about everyone I follow on Instagram is some kind of inspiration. Not just musicians, but people from all sorts of disciplines—sculptors, stop-motion filmmakers, all kinds of artists doing really interesting things. I’m constantly taking it all in.”
