Week 5..... So many questions, invites and opening the conversation to unspoken words between women 👠💪🙏

YES, I USE MY ELBOWS. NO, I'M NOT TRYING TO KILL YOU. 😂

Sports massage really does have one of the worst reputations going, doesn't it?

People imagine someone digging their elbows into them for half an hour while they desperately try not to cry 🥲

And yes, I DO use my elbows. Especially when I'm working on your backside! 🍑

But there's actually a reason for that.

Your glutes are some of the biggest, thickest muscles in your body, and using my forearms or elbows allows me to apply broader, more sustained pressure and work into areas that can be difficult to reach effectively with just my hands.

It's a technique, not a punishment! 💪🏼

And here's the thing…

Some people absolutely LOVE a really firm, deep tissue massage. Others prefer something gentler.

Neither is wrong.

With 11 years of experience in health and fitness, and qualifications in deep tissue sports massage, I understand that everyone's needs, tolerance and reasons for booking are different.

I don't believe a massage has to leave you bruised and battered to have been worthwhile.

Sometimes we work deeper. Sometimes we ease off. Sometimes we focus on mobility, muscular tension or simply helping you feel more comfortable.

The pressure and techniques are tailored to YOU, not how much pain I can make you tolerate.

So whether you're training hard, struggling with tight muscles, spending hours at a desk or just feeling like your body needs a bit of attention, you're welcome on my massage table.

And I promise, there's a little more to it than just elbowing you in the arse for half an hour. 😂💟

📩 Message me if you'd like to book in!

I’m SO pleased Steph is going to be part of this day.

Steph is the founder of The VitaliShe Tribe, an Advanced Clinical Massage Therapist and Holistic Wellness Practitioner, helping women reconnect with their bodies, confidence and wellbeing... and she is also a complete powerhouse of love and vibrate energy with a real passion for her work.

The VitaliShe Tribe brings together wellbeing, mindset, movement, mindfulness, hormonal awareness, self-care and personal growth, creating a space for women to reconnect with themselves and step back into their power.

And I think that fits beautifully into a day all about self-trust.

I’m really excited to have Steph in the room on 22 October. ❤️

Welcome to Self-Trust Is The Missing Strategy, Steph. I’m so glad you said yes. x

Some days I wasn’t sure how I’d get here. Late nights, a growing bump, a house full of children and a dissertation that wouldn’t write itself. But somehow I made it!🎓

I feel so lucky to have found work I love this much, and even luckier that it lets me help so many people. This isn’t the end of my story, and I can’t wait for what comes next.

I graduated with so much more than a qualification: friendships I’ll treasure and memories that will stay with me forever. Having my kids there to see me graduate is a moment I’ll never forget.

Thank you to everyone who held me up along the way. 💛

Things said in my massage room that would sound VERY wrong anywhere else… 😂

After 11 years in this industry, I’ve realised there are some sentences that are perfectly normal during a sports massage… but absolutely horrendous taken out of context. 👀😂

A few personal favourites…

“Don’t tense… just let it happen.”

“Do we need a safe word?” 🥝

And quite possibly the winner…

“Can I ask you a question? What part of your body is in my arse right now?” 😂😂😂

All completely innocent in context, I promise. 🤣

Sports massage: professional treatment… questionable conversations.

Honestly, I could probably write a book with some of the things that have been said in that room over the years. 😂

Maybe this needs to become a series…

Don’t worry clients — names will ALWAYS be withheld to protect the guilty. 🤐😂

As a PT, I'm passionate about helping people move well, get stronger and feel their best. But one thing I always remind my clients is that training is only one piece of the puzzle. Recovery is where the magic happens.

Today I'm seeing Stephanie Clowes, an Advanced Clinical Massage Therapist, Holistic Wellness Practitioner and specialist in women's wellbeing, mindset and hormonal transitions. She also has a background in natural healing and has studied Jing. I love learning about different ways we can support the body—not because something is wrong, but because prevention and self-care are just as important as training itself.

Recovery isn't just about stretching or taking a rest day. It's about giving yourself permission to slow down, regulate your nervous system and take time for yourself. In a world where we're constantly rushing, our bodies aren't always getting the chance to switch out of "go, go, go" mode.

This becomes even more important during perimenopause. Fluctuating hormones can make our nervous system more sensitive, affecting sleep, recovery, energy levels, stress resilience and how our bodies respond to exercise.
Sometimes, the strongest thing we can do isn't train harder—it's recover better.

Whether it's strength training, quality sleep, nourishing food, breathwork, a treatment with Steph, time in nature or simply taking an hour for yourself, it all counts.

Your body carries you through every season of life. Look after it, listen to it, and remember that recovery isn't a sign of weakness—it's part of becoming stronger. 💚

A big thank you to Steph, whose passion for helping women feel confident, balanced and empowered shines through in everything she does. I always value learning from other practitioners who share the same belief that looking after our bodies isn't just about fixing problems—it's about supporting long-term health, wellbeing and resilience. ✨

Behind every treatment room, studio, salon or shop is a huge amount of work, resilience and commitment that often goes unseen.

It takes courage to build something of your own while balancing everything else life throws at you.

I’m lucky to be surrounded by so many hardworking women locally who show up every day for their clients and their businesses.

Tagging a few brilliant female-led businesses below.

Happy International Women’s Day.
