Most men I know have never been in a room where they didn’t have to perform.

At work you’re the one with the answers.
At home you’re the one holding it together.
Even with good friends, the talk tends to stay on football, work and the weekend, because that’s easier for everyone.

So when I run a taster session for my online Mojo Men’s Group, the first job is to make the room safe enough to be honest in. It turns out to be simple, and it isn’t complicated:

⚒️ Nobody’s trying to fix you. There’s no advice unless you ask for it.
⚽ You can pass. Say as much or as little as you like.
🤫 What’s said stays in the room.
🦘 And I go first, so you’re never the one stepping out on your own.

When those four things are in place, something shifts within about twenty minutes. Shoulders drop. Someone says what he’s actually been carrying. Another man nods and says, “Yeah, me too.”

You can’t think your way into that feeling. You have to be in the room.
If you’ve ever wondered what a men’s group is actually like, I’d rather you felt it than read about it.

I’ve committed to running a free taster session each month to spread this experience wider. Next one is Wednesday 11th November 7-8.30pm UK time.

I’ll put a sign up link in the comments or you can DM me to save your free place (max 12 guys)

Photo - is clearly not a Zoom room but another place where men can feel safe and fully express themselves. The firepit at Campwell where Tim Bowles hosted a group of awesome men last weekend.

S01 EP02: IT’S HERE. 🎙️

The next conversation in Season One of The Third Conversation is out now.
What makes a conversation feel safe?

We talk all the time — but that doesn’t necessarily mean we feel safe enough to say what we really think, ask the difficult question, admit we don’t know, or share something that makes us feel vulnerable.

In this conversation, we explore what creates that sense of safety between people, the importance of listening and trust, what can close a conversation down, and the part each of us plays in creating spaces where people feel able to speak.

And, as so often happens with The Third Conversation, the question took us into places I hadn’t necessarily expected.

And then I’d love to continue the conversation with you:
What makes a conversation feel safe for you?

What makes a conversation feel safe? 🎙️

Is it the person you’re talking to? The way they listen? Knowing you won’t be judged? Or simply being given enough space to say what you actually mean?
And what happens when that sense of safety isn’t there?

Here’s a little glimpse into the next conversation in Season One of The Third Conversation.

Three people. Different experiences. One question. And, as always, no script and no expectation of where the conversation might take us.

🎧 Full conversation out Wednesday 7 October.

What an inspiration this woman is 💛

@esmee_ldn is currently RUNNING around Britain, travelling from city to city on foot and hosting a FREE 5K everywhere she goes.

The whole challenge: 5,000km, 77 cities, 99 days. 🤯
And host a free 5km in every city.

We joined her for the Bath 5K on Wednesday night and the Bristol 5K yesterday morning.

I’m knackered… and I only did 2 x 5Ks! 😂

Esmée got up at 4am after hosting in Bath to RUN to Bristol before hosting the Bristol 5K. That puts my tired legs into perspective!

But there’s a much bigger story behind all of this.

At 18, Esmée was paralysed following complications from an operation and was told she might never walk again. She had to relearn how to walk.

Now she’s running 5,000km, dreaming of getting the nation moving and bringing people together through running. ❤️

And she’s coming to Wales this weekend! 🏴

🏃‍♀️ Saturday 19 September: Cardiff
📍 Bute Park Park Run
⏰ 9am
💛 FREE 5K

Then it’s:

📍 Swansea: Sunday 20 September
📍 St Davids: Tuesday 22 September
📍 Hereford: Saturday 26 September
📍 Worcester & Gloucester: Sunday 27 September
📍 Oxford: Tuesday 29 September
📍 Milton Keynes: Wednesday 30 September
📍 St Albans: Thursday 1 October

And then the final push towards London. 🙌🏻 for a big finale in Westminster on 3rd October.

So if you’re anywhere nearby, please go and support her.

Run it. Walk it. Jog it. Cheer her on. You absolutely do NOT need to be a runner.

And if you can’t be there, you can still help.

Esmée is raising money for Wings for Life, which funds spinal cord injury research, and Sport In Mind, which uses sport and physical activity to support mental health. Half of the money raised goes to these two charities, and the other half is shared among charities nominated by the communities she visits.

She’s still got a way to go to reach her fundraising target, so even a couple of pounds, or simply sharing this post, could make a difference. 💛

Let’s help Esmée make her dream of getting the nation moving a reality.

Who’s going to join her? 🏃‍♀️💛

I had absolutely no idea, back in the first pandemic winter of 2020, that inviting friends and colleagues across the globe to gather online, in silence, to share tea together, would change my life.

Tonight, setting up for season 20whatever of The Sanctum, which starts tomorrow, I wept at the gentle majesty of what we’ve co-created together, and what that’s made possible, here, and out there, in so many places and in so many ways.

The Sanctum, and what we share here in community, is humble, beautiful, potent and most of all, very very real.

We might not have grown much as a group in literal terms - I’m shit at marketing and have no inclination to chase the numbers or interest in the amount of bums on seats (cushions!), but my God, how we’ve grown together 🌀

Weathering everything from birth and death (literally) and all of life in between, without words, in every corner of the globe - bound by a shared sense of what might matter - connected by the ancient ritual of leaves and hot water in a bowl.

Thanks to all of you who’ve made it so.

Six years and counting.

What a blessing.

I still don’t have words for the eclipse.

It was so powerful. It makes me feel sick!! The dark!

Like, we all know that new moons and full moons do their thing - but an eclipse! In its path, feels EXTRA.

We lazed, we laughed, we cried.

We ate GLORIOUS food by @alicakesandmoreibiza (give her a follow!) and @chayayogaretreats who hosted us beautifully. Giving it that Libra touch!

But also we felt our way through the heaviness of this energy.

Peeling back the layers and seeing more clearly!

Thanks to the cosmic club gals for being so kind and great! We go again next year! 🇪🇸 (and you are welcome to join!)

How did you find it??

If you’ve spoken to me over the last year, you’ve probably heard me banging on about this amazing woman... Kirsty Lewis @schooloffacilitation.

I found her via Lucy Werner’s Hype Yourself community last year when she ran an incredible online workshop on how to run an online workshop.

It was so good that I signed up for her 6-month Flourishing Facilitator course and bought a ticket for her annual facilitation conference - SoFest (and who doesn’t love a conference in a field?).

And she’s agreed to host a workshop for Freelancer Masterclass LIVE 2027 🙌

Have you ever wondered how some workshops engage, enliven and electrify whilst others feel a bit meh? Whether you’re a trainer, facilitator or first-time workshopper, this session is for you.

There are some simple steps you can take to bring your workshops to life and help participants connect with you, the content, the ideas, and the outputs.

We will discuss why having a clear purpose is essential, how creating ownership and safety will enable better engagement, and share a framework to make it easy for you to craft your next masterpiece of a workshop.

Going to something like Kirsty Lewis’ @schooloffacilitation #SOFest you never know what was going to happen. The invitation I received was to run my workshop which is slowly turning into something I never imagined.

But whilst there, on the first evening at dinner, I sat with Remi and Olayinka and we didn’t stop speaking for hours.

You truly never know who you’re gonna meet at these gatherings, but that might something clicked for all three of us. effortless conversation, a deep appreciation for each other’s journeys, and a deeper respect for the work we all do and how we do it.

We ended in a WhatsApp group that Remi called Break Bread & Banter. And last night we met in person in the middle of London where we shared food, shared more stories and shared a lot of laughter.

We encouraged and changed each other imagined what supporting each other would look like and even dreamt of what creating something together might look like.

I am already so thankful to have these incredible women in my life. I’m very excited to see what happens next.

Another year at SOFest 🥳 where I was so deeply reminded of how important community is, especially when you work for yourself.

🍃 Surrounded by people who just ‘get it’ 🙂where you can show up just as you are 🙃 and ‘be’ for a while.

🍃 The opportunity to learn, absorb, share and PLAY 🤸

@schooloffacilitation provided another mix of amazing speakers, workshops 🖍️ activities 🧘‍♀️ all with an offer to be involved, but to be intentional with your time and energy.

I also ran a workshop on the Outdoor Advantage 🌳 ⛰️ 🌺 on the evidence base for bringing the outdoors into our work with individuals and teams.

🍃 Using outdoors as a tool and partner to support the ability to 💭 well, collaborate and manage stress and behaviours - adding up to more resilience all round 🙌

💥 A super time with 🦸‍♀️ people, what’s not to like 💥

Tickets are on sale for SOFest2027, so if you’re a learning person, a coach, trainer or facilitator head over to @schooloffacilitation to check it out.
