Our bodies have been shaped by different currents, but it’s our minds that ache for the same peace. 🌊🥹🤜🏼🤛🏽 My first few days in Cairo this year have been formed through my mother’s and aunts‘ presence and routines. We all came together in an apartment and city not too well known to us. This formed a bond. Can you see our (wrist) similarities? Can you see we’re a team? I love my aunts so dearly and I started to have a connection to Cairo, the city I used to understand only as the place to pass through when travelling to the coastal cities of Alexandria or Marsa Matrouh. I’ll share some more about my trips to Cairo and Alexandria soon. I’m currently writing a long article. Some learnings so far: The (urban) chaos is in me. We found the best foul and breakfast place in Downtown Cairo. I could eat this every day for the rest of my life. The sunsets in Alexandria are the most magical. Sayyida Zeynab is a bigger attraction than the pyramids. And I found trance through looping Sufi rhythms 🔁 ➰ I found the Yacoubian building. (Actually @ahmadomarr showed it to me 😅) I saw a future. I’m always going to be a foreigner anywhere. #cairo #alexandria #egypt

How to mend a broken connection? How to reclaim embodied creative practice in times of neoliberal notions of wellness as a self-optimisation tool and hyper-individualistic success aims? Thank you all for your interest in thinking and sharing about reclaiming embodied creative practice last month. Hosted by @futuress_org and @brand_new_life_magazine, we were both online and in person @i_n_f_o_s_p_a_c_e. #studioamandahaas #internalpractice #embodiment

💫 Register now for the upcoming free Futuress Tutorial 🌟 (Link in bio) 🌱 Reclaiming Embodied Creative Practice 🍃 with Amanda Haas Abd el Halim @internalpractice @amandahase @schoolofobservation 📆 Sat June 14 | 5 pm CEST | online via Zoom + at Infospace Basel, Switzerland @i_n_f_o_s_p_a_c_e | free Co-hosted with Brand-New-Life @brand_new_life_magazine This tutorial is a participatory exploration of regenerative creative practices—and on resisting (self-)exploitation within capitalism. In a world driven by speed and extraction—where product outweighs process—embracing slowness, fragility, or failure is radical. Rather than offering a formula for success or self-optimization, Amanda explores slowness and resilience as forms of resistance. She focuses on living resourcefully while co-creating strategies for survival—not rejecting productivity, but finding ways to thrive within present realities. How can we stay grounded and nourished, individually and collectively? How can we break cycles of extraction and transform them into practices of healing? Is this only a privilege of the few? Through discussion, shared reflection, and practical exercises, participants will rethink their creative practices. This tutorial draws on years of navigating (self-)experimentation and creative labor balanced by yogic and mindfulness practices. It offers a space to explore more embodied, regenerative ways of working. 💕Amanda Haas Abd el Halim (she/they) is a Swiss-Egyptian graphic designer, lecturer, publisher, and researcher rooted in embodiment. She is based in Basel and Berlin with Studio Amanda Haas, School of Observation, and Internal Practice. 💬 Language: English (with close-captions for online participants) 📍 Infos for on-site participation: Address: InfoSpace @i_n_f_o_s_p_a_c_e, Auf dem Wolf 11, 4052 Basel, Switzerland Accessibility: The space is wheelchair-accessible. 📺 This event will be recorded and made available on the Futuress website in a few months. Sign up for the newsletter or follow us on Instagram to stay tuned! #embodiment #resilience #slowness

Teaching and learning go hand in hand. I had an amazing time giving a lecture and workshop with @giacomosantiagorogado for our joint endeavour @schoolofobservation. I'm grateful to @hfkbremen for the invitation and to the students for their curiosity and engagement. These are just a few moments from our joint lecture. Many thanks to Heike Kati Barath and @klasse_barath for their hospitality and thought-provoking questions. The workshop before the lecture was a truly enriching experience for us. We read texts together, exchanged insights, doubts, and understandings, and discussed creativity, social justice, and our own struggles. We also got to practice simple tools of embodiment. We're thrilled about the students' curiosity in exploring these topics with us. We left Bremen with a warm, well-nourished heart, mind, and body. #klasseheikekatibarath #klassebarath #hfkbremen #schoolofobservation #studioamandahaas #giacomosantiagorogado #studiorogado
