Back to the regular scheduled program of fly fishing rather than hunting. @matt.fling.39 @hasfestus and i finally took the opportunity to get on the water together in search of fat stocker trout. Instead we ended up with a variety of native species.

Ramp hunting earlier this year. Wild Leeks more commonly known as ramps are known throughout Eastern America for their onion garlic like aroma. Many people steer clear of eating them for that exact reason. Me personally I believe they taste great on burgers or sautéed. If you’re interested in getting into foraging or just spending time in the outdoors, ramp hunting is a great kid friendly way to do so. #wnc #ramps #wildleeks #mothernature #greatoutdoors

Opening day of bow season here in western North Carolina. Managed to take out my first deer ever which was a decent spike in velvet. October 12 is also one of my closest friend’s birthdays. Unfortunately he’s no longer here with us but he was by my side every step of this hunt. #wnc #deerhunting #whitetail #difp #pww

Spotted Orb Weaver VS Green Caddis!!!! Not much of a fight but the spider definitely enjoyed some caddis for dinner. The Orb Weaver didn’t waste a second wrapping that caddis up.

Went to the local swimming hole aka “Redneck Beach” in search of smallies. Ended up with a bag full of trophy trash and a few beautiful panfish in an experimental mouse pattern I tied.🎣🐭🚮
Be sure to sign up with @outdoorstewards to receive your free bag to collect trophy trash. Saving the environment one piece of trash at a time.

This afternoon @matt.fling.39 and I took a nice exploratory hike into Gibson Bottoms. It was a great hike with multiple trails passing through the woods on the edge of a small mountain leading us into large open meadows of grass and wildflowers. Unfortunately we found a decent amount of trash near the riverbank access. We decided it would be best to bag it all up and remove it from the property. Saving the environment one piece of trash at a time. #trophytrash #wnc #mothernature #leavenotrace #dontlitter

Went out in hopes of finding a decent brown trout today. Ended up hooking into a beautiful smallmouth bass that had a feisty attitude. It’s always a blast trying to get a smallie to the net. Especially on the fly!!!! #wnc #mothernature #smallmouthbass #flyfishing #smallieonthefly

Tied up a variety of flies the other night. You know we had to get out on the creek soon as possible to test them out and experiment with them. Only tested two of the patterns. The olive leech and the silver perdigon. Both successfully attracting, hooking and landing fish. #wnc #mothernature #flytying #flyfishing #tightlines

Took the GoPro on another adventure. My cousin and I took a trip down to the dam to mess around with some panfish on the ultralight. They weren’t cooperating at all. Miraculously the walleye were there and ready to eat. Ended up landing my second walleye ever. Reel:Pflueger monarch 500
Line:Trilene 4lb mono Lure:small yozuri jerkbait

Hit up some hatchery supported waters today for some trout. It was more of an exploratory trip more than anything. None of us had been in this section of river before. We ended up stumbling upon what is know as Scandin Falls. The trek to the waterfall isn’t for the faint of heart but highly recommended. #mothernature #wnc #waterfall #rainbowtrout #flyfishing
