Only 12 of these Laurent Ferrier Grand Sport Tourbillons exist, and the dial is one of my favorites in independent watchmaking.

This is the Laurent Ferrier Grand Sport Tourbillon, reference LCF041.2.AC.C1GO, featuring a 44mm stainless steel cushion case and beautifully integrated bracelet.

What really stands out is that extraordinary blue opaline dial. Depending on the lighting, it shifts from a vibrant blue to an almost black shade around the edges.

The signature Assegai-shaped hands and warm orange Super-LumiNova markers give it a distinctive personality without overwhelming the design.

Inside is the manually wound Calibre LF619.01, featuring a double balance spring tourbillon, an 80-hour power reserve and exceptional traditional hand finishing.

Unlike most tourbillon watches, the complication is visible only through the sapphire caseback, leaving the dial wonderfully clean.

But what I enjoy most is how the entire watch comes together on the wrist. The proportions, finishing, integrated bracelet and changing colors of that dial make it a pleasure to wear.

A beautiful example of Laurent Ferrier’s ability to combine serious mechanical watchmaking with exceptional design.

Same era. Two very different stories.

Two extraordinary examples of the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Ref. 5402ST, both belonging to the exceptionally rare D-Series. Dating from 1978 to 1989, the D-Series represents one of the rarest chapters in Royal Oak history, with just 404 examples recorded.

Despite sharing the same origins, time has treated these two watches very differently. One has developed a beautiful, pronounced patina, while the other has retained much of its original dial color. A fascinating reminder that no two vintage watches age quite alike.

More than four decades later, each tells its own story. Two watches born from the same era, yet entirely unique in character.

The Daniel Roth Premier Retrograde

One of the coolest Daniel Roth’s made IMHO. Very glad to have picked this one up a few years back, before the Daniel Roth hype picked up. I can pat myself on the back for that too. Always good to have reason for that.

Also looks amazing on the @jeanrousseaunyc band 😍

ROWAN’S REVIEW

SERIES: 7 DAYS IN PARIS (7 Looks for 7 Days)
Day 3 LOOK

So…..

I wanted to pay homage to the flapper girl era in the most modern way possible. The dress is from @chanelofficial Spring 2008 Couture collection, and it's always been one I’ve dreamt of styling. There’s something so risky and yet very demure about this ensemble that reminds of women of the 1920s . It is for this reason exactly that I wanted to choose the look for Day 3 as I continue to reimagine the 1920s.

Quick Note: PHOTOS ARE GENERATED USING AI; nevertheless, the creative concept, styling, and all details, including the written reviews, are authentic content from me.

That dial alone would make this watch special. But there’s a lot more going on here.

This is the Czapek Genève Antarctique Tourbillon Glacier Blue, a fascinating combination of traditional craftsmanship and modern mechanical engineering.

The stunning Glacier Blue dial features Czapek’s Singularité guilloché pattern, developed with specialist dial maker Metalem. The intricate geometric engraving creates an almost three dimensional effect as light moves across the surface.

But look closer at the movement’s architecture.

At 12 o’clock, the exposed mainspring barrel becomes part of the dial design. At 6 o’clock, a flying tourbillon appears to float above the intricate blue surface.

Both are arranged along a central vertical axis, creating a beautiful sense of balance.

Inside is Czapek’s automatic Calibre 9, housed in a 40.5mm case with a dramatically curved sapphire crystal that adds even more visual depth.

The integrated bracelet features Czapek’s distinctive C shaped center links.

What I particularly appreciate is how Czapek has made the mechanical architecture part of the watch’s appearance without sacrificing the beauty of the dial.

An extraordinary dial, a flying tourbillon and some seriously impressive independent watchmaking.

#watchoftheday AP Royal Oak 👑 🌳
37mm for the win!!! These watches just fit my wrist so well. Also the light indices on the baby blue is killer. Lovely configuration

Some watches are impressive because of what they do. Others because of how beautifully they do it. This Laurent Ferrier manages both.

The Laurent Ferrier Grand Sport Tourbillon, reference LCF041.2.AC.C1GO, is one of my favorite examples of how thoughtful design and exceptional watchmaking can come together.

What draws me to this watch is the balance of its design. The sweeping curves of the 44mm stainless steel case, the beautifully integrated bracelet, and that smoked blue opaline dial, which shifts from deep navy to almost black depending on the light.

The warm, almost golden appearance of the luminous markers against the blue dial is particularly appealing. It’s a combination that looks even better on the wrist than it does in photographs.

Then there’s the movement.

The manually wound LF619.01 features a double balance spring tourbillon, an 80-hour power reserve, and the kind of meticulous hand finishing that makes Laurent Ferrier one of the most respected names in independent watchmaking.

This particular configuration was produced in an edition of just 12 pieces worldwide.

But rarity alone doesn’t make a watch interesting to me. It’s the execution, the attention to detail, and how everything comes together when you actually wear it.

For all its mechanical sophistication, what I enjoy most about this Laurent Ferrier is simply looking down at my wrist.

Lovely dress watch. Photos don’t do the opaline face justice, but my scratched iPhone camera shall soon be replaced. @laurent_ferrier dials are always top notch

Puts a lot of the Calatrava alternatives from his former colleagues at Patek to shame
