Not quite a typical day, but too special not to share.

We'll start where it ended: the Andrew Martin International Interior Designer of the Year Awards, often called the Oscars of the design world. It was a joy to celebrate with so many designers and industry friends, in the most fitting setting of all, the V&A @jennifermanners

Earlier, I was honoured to join @condenastproperty for lunch celebrating 200 years of @lyonandturnbull We were guests at Selfridges' new private members' club, 40 Duke, with a tour of the beautiful styling rooms afterwards. The Chloé handbags were a highlight, and I'm already looking forward to coming back for a personal styling visit.

And where it began: in the studio, sourcing samples for a client project. This is where the creative work really happens.
.
After 25 years of running my own practice, days like this are a real privilege. This is a generous, collaborative industry, and I'm grateful for the wonderful people in it ✨

Sunday at the Decorative Antiques and Textiles Fair at Battersea Park. One of my favourite days in the calendar.
.
I always go with clients in mind - pieces that might suit a project, a chair that could anchor a room, a find that sparks an idea. But if I am honest, I also just go because I love it.
.
Today's highlights: a pair of 1950s chairs with the most beautiful lines. A mid-century furniture collection that had me taking far too many photographs. A Swedish cabinet with proportions so good it made me stop and stare. Eames inspired chairs in exactly the right condition. And the 'stately home' boot scraper at David Levi Antiques that I cannot quite explain but absolutely could not walk past.

This is the part of the job that never feels like work. The searching, the finding, the knowing instinctively when something is right - for a client, for a project, or simply because it is beautiful.

Back to the studio tomorrow. Head full of ideas.

Momentarily pressing pause on the #LDF2026 promo to say a HUGE mega thank you for the overwhelming support, sign-ups, rsvp's and DMs of encouragement - it's not quite Friday yet but I feel like celebrating.

If only you knew the mountains I had to climb to get to this point, including a life threatening illness where in 2016 I made the decision to take a leap of faith and fight back... but I didn't do it alone. It takes a village.

I am blessed to have My "Council of Elders" who have each added threads to my tapestry, taking a gamble in trusting me with these bonkers ideas!

For the long term followers you'll remember this all started 10 years ago with a blog I started during my lunchbreak while sitting in the canteen of the @financialtimes...

Too many names to list here but a few who rocked up, showed up and stuck around to give me the safety I needed to learn, to fail - and to grow... 🌱

It really is amazing what you can achieve when people believe in you!

A particular fond memory is Elliot Grove, his wife Suzanne and Amanda Johnston standing in a stairwell in Clerkenwell Firestation while I laid out a vision for a textiles hub and dye bath in the attic where the old victorian laundry room remains preserved...

Or Chris Raeburn plonking that "I try. I fail. I learn" book about regenerative design on my desk, and telling me to read it...

Or Chloe Grimshaw (RIP 🕊💔) plotting and scheming with me to get as many teenagers within a 3 mile radius of The Lab E20 indoctrinated into the circular economy and climate action as we could manage...

Or Ande & Mark coming along in 2022 for the adventure that is my dream of building a 4 acre regenerative business hub in Shoreditch aka Shoreditch Works London (Shoreditch Sandbox)🌱💚.

Ps. Gotta give my Mum a shoutout... if you hadn't interrupted me while I was doing my history homework to type up your contribution to House & Garden's very early sustainability issue circa 2007/8? I'd have ended up on a different career pathway!

I shape places the same way I watched my Dad make albums: Collaboration, Co-Design & Community.

The look of Expectation all Dog owners and lovers know. Han Dynasty earthenware lead glazed Dog, Pug ancestors. Northern China AD 25-220.
Ears missing and previously restored but doing well for 2000 years old. I saw a different model in the V&A recently with the best toes ever. Also a charming little seated dog , colour fill chip to head. Great fun and pottery although he looks like a Bilston enamel.
Last but not least, Bea with that 'Look', taken some years ago which always makes me laugh because the feather stayed on her nose for ages. She's an old lady now and full reverse panda but like all terriers, still has plenty of energy, only now with genuine and not just selective hearing as @holly_l_bell can attest to.

Thermal mass as spatial structure.

Heavy floor and ceiling planes stabilise internal temperatures, while smaller, framed openings reduce heat loss and gain. The rooms are defined, enclosed, and inherently efficient.

Soft furnishings are deliberately juxtaposed against this weighty structure, moderating scale and introducing warmth. The contrast creates both thermal comfort and a quieter, more considered aesthetic.

Energy efficiency achieved through form, supported by a thoughtful, balanced and responsive furnishing approach.

On International Women’s Day, I’ve been reflecting on the incredible women who have shaped my journey.
.
As I celebrate 25 years in the interior design industry, I feel deeply grateful to be surrounded by such an inspiring community — particularly within the luxury prime residential world.
.
Building my own interior design studio while also being a mother has been one of the most rewarding — and at times challenging — experiences of my life. I know for certain I couldn’t have done it without the encouragement, collaboration and generosity of other women in this industry.
.
Women who share knowledge.
Women who open doors.
Women who champion each other.
.
This industry is stronger when we support one another, and I feel incredibly fortunate to work alongside such inspiring women.
.
Grateful for this community 🤍

On the topic of sisterhood... #IWD

Starting with that photo of Mum and her work bestie Victoria on the fridge magnet (it was Victoria who used to supply Mama with "tha goods" via the Cosmo fashion cupboard when they were both juniors), this photo sat juxtaposed to my baby photos on my Mum's fridge for as long as I've been alive...

My earliest memories of visiting Mum at work at Conde Nast HQ, always consisted of taking a detour to find my Mum's bestie Fiona Forsyth in her office - ALWAYS full of energy, love and enthusiasm for whatever childhood adventures I was on at the time.

Sitting for what felt like hours waiting for Mum, sat in school uniform on those deep red sofas at Vogue House, watching streams of women of all ages swooping in to rescue each other for lunch or afterwork drinks...

My earliest memories of my Mama is with her friends. With women.
With her 'sisters'.

In fact when I was dusting off my CV, My Mum sat me down with intention, and told me before I started at the FT to make the time to find "Your Fi" - which is shorthand for the tribal "sisters from other misters" who are quite literally "ride or die" levels of support through thick and thin.

I listened and the friendships I have with the pantheon of super women I consider to be my FT famalam (@isabelberwick, @kesewa.hennessy, @shaddsza, @dimplekhatri, @la.pavoni and @mcsarahrussis) are a DIRECT result of this advice.

And my Mum was right... these friends have supported, loved (unconditionally), fought for me in rooms I wasn't in, and nurtured in ways that frankly - restore my faith in humanity.

We've seen the state of the world. But before we go charging off in the name of matriachy - first we need time to heal.

Sisters are doing it for themselves!

And now... my Mama is taking her message and her craft (via her start up @kindatheartcic) on the road...
