Only two days left to experience Velvet Hour Lounge in person. No photograph or video can quite capture the depth of the materials, the layers of texture, or the way the room transforms with the light. The Kips Bay Decorator Show House New York closes tomorrow, October 13. One last chance to come experience it all for yourself. Come linger a little longer and support an amazing charity for the kids of New York. An ode to the extraordinary cast of characters who spent the entire summer living and breathing Velvet Hour Lounge at the @kbshowhouse The artists, artisans, designers, installers, problem solvers, miracle workers, and very good sports who somehow made this all happen. There was scaffolding, dust, impossible deadlines, a thousand decisions, plenty of laughs, and a few moments when we may have collectively lost our minds. Somewhere in the middle of all that madness, we made something pretty extraordinary. And now, with only five days left, I’m realizing just how much I’m going to miss all of it. What a whirlwind. What a summer. What a crew. To everyone who put a little piece of themselves into this room, thank you. I couldn’t be more grateful or more proud of what we created together. An enormous thank you to I-Grace Contracting, @theigracecompany who so generously donated their time and expertise to this project. Your extraordinary precision, dedication, and unwavering commitment to the end result are truly second to none. We couldn’t have asked for better partners in this madness. And a very special thank you to Miranda Agee of MANYPR, @manyprgroup who simply would not take no for an answer when it came to Kips Bay. You were the catalyst I didn’t know I needed. When we were assigned the living room at this year’s Kips Bay Decorator Show House New York, we inherited one very large problem: an 18 foot high, 8 foot wide fireplace that dominated the room and worked against every feeling of comfort and relaxation we wanted to create. Taking it down was non negotiable. So we did. And rebuilt it from scratch. We called on longtime collaborator Scott Daniel Design @scott_daniel to help us completely reimagine the chimney as a work of art. A bespoke ceramic mirror surround nearly 10 feet tall, unlike anything that had existed before. The mirror opened the room back up, capturing the sofa wall behind and created a view so good it became its own little universe. The problem became the point. One final week to see this masterpiece in person. Open through October 13 at 80 West Washington Place. Last week was the opening of the Kips Bay show house in New York @kbshowhouse sponsored by @galeriemagazine, We had the honor of working with Kelly Zerbini from @dunnamzerbini Interior Design and made a sculptural ceramic mirror surround for her Velvet Hour Lounge in the living room. After the install I had a chance to enjoy the space before the storm. Here is a cute pick from install day and some detail shots of the piece lit from within. #ceramics #fireplace #ceramiclighting #madebyhand

Scenes from opening night. Finally starting to catch up a little on life. Thank you to everyone who showed up, lent something, made something, sacrificed their entire summer (@richardhaining @scott_daniel, @mirandaageenyc, @mm_forster, @timpbutcher), traveled great distances @grietjeschepers, answered an unhinged phone call (all of you), spoke to me 8 times a day (that’s you @theigracecompany), or simply checked in. The room is beyond and it is all of ours. All of the prop joints were mysteriously taken and to those people, let me know how that worked out. 😂 And @torreyllc cementing our friendship by insisting on sitting on the turtle for the group shot. Lastly, if you took a picture with me that night, please send my way. I have nothing but these and know they are out there somewhere. Above all else THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. What a privilege to take part in the @kbshowhouse while raising money for the kids of nyc. 🙏🙏 Do stop by before Oct 13th to see the house for yourself.

Inside the Velvet Lounge 🛋️✨ For Kips Bay Decorator Show House New York @kbshowhouse, we collaborated with interior designers Dunnam Zerbini to bring an artful layer to their beautifully considered space. 🏡 The room’s centerpiece is a monumental painting by Romeo Mivekannin @romeomivekannin, complemented by works including a sculpture by Manuel Neri from @salon94, a work on paper by Joel Shapiro from @pacegallery, and a small work by Julie Curtiss from @paceprints. A major moment for our NYC-based client Kelly Zerbini of @dunnamzerbini. Their Velvet Hour Lounge is officially open at the 2026 @kbshowhouse in New York City’s West Village. Inspired by the transition from day to night, Kelly Zerbini created a richly layered lounge filled with bold color, texture, blue-chip art, and sculptural details, creating an intimate space that is collected and cool. On view September 16 - October 13 📍80 Washington Place. Special thanks and to Nazira Handal @nhandalp, Jeremiah Johnsen @jeremiahwjohnsen and the entire Kips Bay Show House crew for their incredible spirit through generosity, help, both late night and early morning phone calls, and being an advocate for beauty in interiors. We appreciate you and love working with you! The art of the hearth, cast in bronze. Our hand-cast bronze Vestal Fire Screen in Dark Oil-rubbed Bronze commands the fireplace in Dunnam Zerbini Design’s Velvet Hour Lounge at this year’s Kips Bay Decorator Show House New York. Richly layered and deeply atmospheric, the lounge celebrates artistic collaboration, bespoke design, and the enduring beauty of things made by hand. It’s a pleasure to see the Vestal Fire Screen included in such an evocative room alongside the work of so many talented artists and makers. Congratulations to Dunnam Zerbini on a spectacular space and to all of this year’s designers on a beautiful house. Velvet Hour by night Highlighting the extraordinary efforts that went into the redesign of our room in our @kbshowhouse room. Scott Daniel Strickstein @scott_daniel accepted the enormous task of creating a site specific fireplace sculpture, with integrated lighting and all, in an impossible timeline. Richard Haining @richardhaining created a trio of commissioned wooden vessels made from decommissioned New York City water tower wood, to add an airiness to the elevation. Grietje Schepers @grietjeschepers felt chandelier illuminates the entire space while tempering the 18’ ceilings to create an intimate environment. Paul Michael Graves @paulmichaelgraves hand painted frieze and ceiling add visual interest and help break up the height of the space. @romeomivekannin painting presiding over the sofa, reflecting in the mirror. He paints his face into historic portraits to reclaim a place within the images and history. His works ask us to reconsider how history is remembered. These are some of the collaborative, bespoke efforts that went into our Kips Bay Showhouse room this year.
