Come feast with the ancestors in this night of communion with those who have gone before! The Feast of the Beloved Dead is a recreation of the old-fashioned "dumb-supper." ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ What is a dumb supper? It's a way to dine with the dead, to have a meal with a loved one who has crossed over. An old fashioned term that meant silent super, it was traditionally a time to set a place at the table for loved ones who had passed and share the meal in silence. In fact the dumb supper carries many interesting origin stories! We will mark the occasion with circle and sacred space, honoring those who have crossed over by sharing our meal with them. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Join Heather Shoopman and Scott K Smith at A Love Bizaarre in Atwater Village on Thursday November 7th in a sacred circle silently dining with those who have crossed the veil, followed by story and sharing. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ You must pre-purchase a ticket for this event, available here: https://www.temple-la.com/shop/beloved-dead-pass

In Lak'ech - Tu eres mi otro yo - you are my other me. The Mayan greeting on this grad cap which was lovingly placed on our community altar tonight at the Community Healing Circle that @instaconcon & I co-facilitated in Boyle Heights was the perfect-est. We grounded, created space to cry and let out our frustrations, set intentions, found moments of JOY and released with mindfulness and in community. It was so beautiful ✨✨🙏🏽🙏🏽✨🧘🏻‍♀️🧘🏻‍♀️ and the perfect way to spend my Friday night. So thankful for the folks who showed up and those who couldn’t but were there in spirit. A special thank you to @scott_k_smith for the gifts of the releasing incense that we are able to pass along to the folks who came. Medicine. #community #familiesbelongtogether #healingcircle #altar #boyleheights #femmebruja #femmesofcolorvisibility
