Finishing our mini tribute to the legendary architect Renzo Mongiardino with photographs of the New York bedroom of the truly talented painter Scott Houston McBee, decorated by Mr. McBee’s partner, the noted decoratorJames Andrew, who told The World of Interiors that this room had been inspired by Lee Radziwill’s iconic “Turquerie Room,” created by Mongiardino in 1966. Please swipe left for more detailed views of this wonderful space, with pieces by Mr. McBee on display. Swipe left again for photographs of the living room and the studio of this maisonette; last photograph shows the late Lee Radziwill on a divsn in her famed room.

Photographs 1-7 by Annie Schlechter for The World of Interiors; 8 by Cecil Beaton for Vogue.

Another favorite post from 2025. When The World of Interiors published these photographs of the New York maisonette of the wonderfully talented painter Scott Houston McBee and his paintings of ships it reminded me of the New York apartment of the decorator Ann LeConey and her collection of ship paintings. Here, two views of the studio in Mr. McBee’s apartment, which was decorated by James Andrew. Please swipe left for views of Mrs. LeConey’s apartment; first, from the living room into the library; the chintz on the chair is from Lee Jofa. Swipe left for a view of the library; the chairs were covered in Cowtan and Tout’s “Sea Coral”; sofa’s fabric from Lee Jofa. The carpet was by Rosecore.

I have to admit that I need some ship paintings, as well as that fabulous Louis XVI desk chair by @victoriaandson in Mr. McBee’s studio.

Photographs 1 and 2 by World of Interiors; 3 and 4, Feliciano for House and Garden magazine.
