I made 10 mini cornbreads to go with our white chicken chili tonight.

I counted them out without even thinking about it—making sure everyone would get the same amount. (Although sammy always eats some of mine cause he is 12 and a garbage disposal!😜)

And then I realized…

I didn’t need 10.

I only needed 8.

Because I only feed four people at home now. 😭

Such a silly, ordinary little moment. Cornbread on a weeknight. But somehow it held more meaning than I intended.

The heartache of realizing our table looks different now.
And the joy of knowing it looks different because one of our babies is out there building a life of her own. (And while we miss her sooo much, @lilypaige1 we are soooo proud!)

This part of motherhood is strange.

You spend years feeding them, counting heads, making sure there’s enough for everyone—and then one day, your hands remember a number your house no longer needs.

So tonight there are two extra cornbreads.

And apparently a lump in my throat. ❤️

It’s always a big day for our family on August 4th! From the first day in 2015 in Ethiopia signing the official papers and making this boy ours, to 11 years later! So many memories and celebrations! We are so thankful to have this crazy boy in our lives! Sammy K we love you!!

If you’ve ever said, “There’s just nothing to do in Odessa for families,” this is your sign to give local theater another chance.

Tonight we saw The Sound of Music at the outdoor amphitheater at Stonegate Church, and it completely exceeded every expectation I had.

The setting alone is worth the trip. Watching this timeless story under the West Texas sky creates an experience that’s hard to beat. But what impressed me most was the talent. The cast delivered performances that were heartfelt, polished, and incredibly engaging. I’ve been fortunate enough to see theater in places like London and on Broadway, and while this is a community production, the quality, preparation, and attention to detail genuinely reminded me why live theater is so special.

This isn’t just “good for Odessa.” It’s simply good theater.

The best endorsement I can give? My kids were singing “Do-Re-Mi” all the way home. If a show can keep kids that entertained after it’s over, that’s saying something.

Huge congratulations to everyone who poured their time and talent into this production. You’ve created something our community should be proud of.

If you’re looking for a fun, wholesome family night out, don’t miss it. Bring a lawn chair or blanket, enjoy an evening under the stars, and support some incredibly talented local performers.

Graduation was a fun celebration of all the goals and dreams this girl accomplished in her 4 years at permian high school! Excited for her future and proud mom & dad don’t even cover how we feel!

I am so excited to announce my commitment to Baldwin Wallace for my BM in musical theatre! After an incredibly long year of auditioning I am ecstatic to have found my home at BW!

I have so many people to thank for helping me through this journey first of course is @musicaltheatercollegeauditions
and @leoashevens without these people I wouldn’t have been able to achieve the success I had this year! I also want to thank my incredible coaches @smassellsings, @kmaccluggage, and @sarajgallo you have all guided and helped me in a way you could never imagine. Specifically @smassellsings who quickly became a huge inspiration and mentor to me. I’ll always be grateful for her encouragement and realness throughout this process! ;)

Thank you to @bwmusictheatre and all of the incredible faculty who were willing to take a chance on a girl from west Texas!

I also have to thank my mom and dad who I wouldn’t have been in theatre without. Thank you for always believing in me and for allowing me to follow my dreams! I love you both tons and am forever grateful to have you as parents!
