My first concert with the Santa Clarita Symphony! 🎻

Back in August I did what I’d only considered doing for ages (after some light nudging by my friend and violist @sewcorellian) but over which I kept getting cold feet: I finally applied to join the local symphony orchestra, just in time for their new 2026/2027 season. 🎼

This is my first time being part of a full orchestra since my SCVYO & CSUN Youth Philharmonic days, and though as an adult I’ve performed with the Canyon Theatre Guild, a bluegrass band, and many duets and solo work, I always had that itch to be a part of a full orchestra again. But I also knew I’d grown rusty; I hadn’t been practicing anywhere remotely as much as I did every day from 5 to 17. So I worked hard on my seating audition and was surprised and honored to be placed in 1st violin (aside the concertmaster no less), and as I began rehearsing with my fellow musicians in the SCSO, it brought back a joy I haven’t experienced since I was a kid… and I knew I should’ve done this SO much sooner. 😊

Thank you so much to Lisa for convincing me to join (you were so right all along!), we’ve been friends for so long and it’s been a delight to at last collaborate with you as fellow musicians. Thank you to Xaman, our phenomenally talented concertmaster, section leader, and my stand mate; your guidance (and impeccable note-taking) has been so enormously invaluable to me. Thank you to Alex, our brilliant conductor and artistic director, for your passion, patience, and dedication. And of course to every one of our SCSO musicians, staff, and collaborators who make this all possible. 🙏🏼

And last but not least, thank you to my friends and to my parents who’ve supported me and the orchestra on this journey and came to see us perform! I’m so spoiled rotten to have y’all in my life. 🥹

Next up is the Snowfall Spectacular, our winter program concert on December 13th at Saugus High where we’ll be performing the music of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, The Nutcracker, and much more. Follow along at @scsorchestra as our season continues… ❄️

The Santa Clarita Symphony Orchestra has been working to bring an innovative and collaborative music experience to our community since 2022! Consisting of local musicians of all levels, SCSO puts on performances every season that are inspiring, electric and evident of their hard work behind the scenes.

Santa Clarita Symphony Orchestra opens their 2026-2027 season on Oct 11. They will present the west coast premier of The American Experiment written by Disney and Lucasfilm composer David Glen Russell for America’s 250th birthday, and last year’s grand prize winner of the young soloist competition Sora Corro will dazzle you with Grieg’s beautiful Piano Concerto.

☔Come rain or shine, the Santa Clarita community shows up! 🌟

☔ Co-host Carrie Lujan braved the rainy weather to take part in some of the recent events and gives us a first hand recap.

She first attended @btohome’s Turkey Trot 5K Walk/Run, which raised funds for individuals and families experiencing homelessness. Then, the @cityofsantaclaritaevents beloved holiday tradition, “Light Up Main Street,” where hundreds of families gathered despite the weather to enjoy the fun-filled activities and yuletide cheer.

🌟 The holiday events don’t stop there though, Carrie and Dave give us a sneak preview of the upcoming Santa Clarita Symphony Orchestra’s family-friendly concert, “Sounds of the Season.” @scsorchestra
