Big shout out to Halston! 🙌 After about a year of interning at SDSW, he is moving on to our another TBB location. He’s been a huge part of our Eastlake family, and his bond with our athlete Alex has been something special. Alex’s mom loved how Halston worked with her son, and it shows in everything they’ve built together. He’ll definitely be missed! But this isn’t goodbye. It’s just the beginning of his career with Team Breaking Barriers. He’ll still be working at our West Chula Vista location, and we know he’s going to kill it at Daygo Performance. So proud of you, Halston! 💪 #TeamBreakingBarriers #AdaptiveFitness #ProudCoach #NewBeginnings #PaidInternshipProgram

Karen isn’t training to get SKINNY. She’s training to get STRONG, HEALTHY, and CAPABLE FOR LIFE! 💪🔥 Her goals are simple: Build strength, master the exercises she wants to perform, improve her metabolic health markers, and gradually reduce body fat WITHOUT sacrificing muscle. And that takes TIME, CONSISTENCY, and PROPER COACHING. 🚩 “LOSE 20 POUNDS IN 6 WEEKS!” Sound familiar? The fitness industry LOVES selling rapid weight loss because emotional marketing sells memberships. What they don’t emphasize is what you’re actually losing. When you crash diet, your body initially sheds water as glycogen stores decrease. With aggressive calorie restriction, you also risk losing valuable muscle along with body fat. And that’s a BIG problem! Muscle is metabolically active tissue. It supports your joints, improves strength and physical function, contributes to your resting metabolism, and becomes increasingly important as you age. Why would you sacrifice the very tissue you’re trying to build? For 17 YEARS, I’ve refused to change my coaching model to chase the latest six-week transformation trend. While corporate gyms and franchises market quick fixes, we’ve stayed committed to something far more valuable: ✅ Sustainable fat loss ✅ Progressive strength development ✅ Improved metabolic health ✅ Better movement and mobility ✅ Long-term results that actually LAST Karen understands the assignment. We’re building a stronger, healthier, more capable version of HERSELF, not chasing some unrealistic number on a scale. At San Diego Strength and Wellness, we don’t sell desperation. We coach with INTEGRITY, PRECISION, and EXPERIENCE. I’m not interested in promising you a body in six weeks just to collect another membership payment. I’m interested in helping you build a body that serves you for the next 30 YEARS. 👊 🔥 LIKE, SHARE, and FOLLOW for more intelligent training. 👇 Comment STRONG if you’re ready to stop chasing quick fixes and start building real, lasting strength!

🇺🇸 16 YEARS OLD. JUNIOR OLYMPIAN. UNBELIEVABLE WORK ETHIC! 💪🔥 Meet Chris Ferguson, a young water polo athlete who recently competed at the Junior Olympics, representing Team USA! HOOYAH! 🇺🇸 What impresses me most isn’t just his athletic ability. It’s his FOCUS, RESPECT, DISCIPLINE, AND INCREDIBLE CONSISTENCY! Chris shows up ready to work, listens, applies corrections, and gives his best EVERY SESSION. That’s a huge part of the results we’re achieving together! 🎥 THESE CLIPS ARE UNEDITED FOR A REASON! You’ll see Chris struggle with balance during renegade rows. I left that in intentionally because REAL training isn’t always picture-perfect. You’re watching the learning process, not just the highlights! Here’s a small glimpse into one of our upper-body sessions: 💪 Renegade Rows: Core stability, anti-rotation, and shoulder control. 🔥 Half-Kneeling Medicine Ball Chop Slams: Explosive rotational power and force transfer for water polo. 💪 Pull-Ups: Upper-body strength and muscular endurance. ⛓️ Push-Up Drop Sets: Starting with TWO 23-pound chains (46 pounds total), dropping to ONE chain, then finishing with BODY WEIGHT! Building strength and endurance through progressive fatigue. And that’s just a fraction of his training! Other sessions focus more heavily on lower-body strength, core development, and conditioning. SPORTS-SPECIFIC TRAINING IS OFTEN MISUNDERSTOOD. My general coaching philosophy is 75% foundational strength and conditioning and 25% specialized athletic development. Mastering that 75% requires expert programming, technique, intensity, and progression. The specialized 25% builds upon that foundation. After nearly 20 YEARS of coaching, I’ve learned that great results aren’t built through fancy exercises or perfect social media clips. They’re earned through intelligent coaching, consistency, patience, and HARD WORK! Chris brings all the qualities a coach could ask for, and I’m proud to be part of his journey! 🇺🇸👏 📍 San Diego Strength and Wellness 👇 DROP “STRONG” BELOW if you’re looking for experienced coaching to help yourself or your young athlete reach the next level! 💪 YOUR KID GOT BIGGER… BUT DID THEY GET STRONGER? Meet Luke Madrigal. 10 years old. Training with us since he was 7. 🔥 Just two years ago, Luke was cranking out push-ups like they were nothing. Now? We’re using assisted push-ups to rebuild his relative strength while incorporating weighted hip thrusts to develop his lower-body strength. Did Luke get weaker? NOT NECESSARILY. HE GREW! Here’s something many parents AND coaches don’t understand. 👇 Kids grow taller. They get heavier. Their limbs get longer. And sometimes their bodies grow faster than their relative strength can keep up! Relative strength is how strong you are compared to your own body weight. And one of the best ways to develop it? Good old-fashioned CALISTHENICS. Push-ups. Pull-ups. Squats. Lunges. The BASICS! But here’s where I have a problem with today’s fitness industry. 🎯 Too many coaches are more concerned with looking impressive on social media than actually mastering the fundamentals of coaching. YouTube workouts, AI-generated programs, fancy exercises, and flashy videos will NEVER replace years of hands-on experience, patience, technical knowledge, and genuinely caring about the child standing in front of you. The basics, taught with precision and the appropriate intensity, WORK. PERIOD. At San Diego Strength and Wellness, we’ve spent 17 years in this community developing people of all ages, including young athletes like Luke. We’re not here to entertain your kids with circus tricks. We’re here to EDUCATE them, DEVELOP them, and build a foundation of strength and movement that will serve them for LIFE. 💯 👏 Show Luke some love in the comments! 📲 Parents: If you’re looking for experienced, patient, detail-oriented coaching for your child, DM us the word YOUTH. ❤️ LIKE, COMMENT, SHARE & FOLLOW for more real coaching and real results!

If you don’t compete in powerlifting, you don’t HAVE to train like a powerlifter. For many of my clients—especially taller lifters and people training for strength and longevity—the trap bar is one of my favorite deadlift options. My client Fernando was 185 lbs three years ago. Today he’s 220. And here’s the interesting part: He only started deadlifting a few months ago. Yet he’s already moving some serious weight for 6 reps. Why? Because we didn’t need the deadlift to build his strength. We built his body FIRST. Squats. Lunges. RDLs. Rows. Carries. Presses. Unilateral work. Core stability. Years of progressively getting stronger across multiple movement patterns. Then we introduced the trap-bar deadlift—and all that strength transferred. Now we’re gradually working toward 405 × 5. No rush. No ego. Just progressive overload, good technique, and longevity. At 6’3”, I’ve learned this lesson personally. I built a lot of my physique with the traditional barbell lifts, but after years of lifting, I’ve also learned that an exercise doesn’t get bonus points because it’s considered one of the “Big Three.” At 40, my priorities have evolved: Get strong. Stay strong. Keep moving. And be able to train for decades. Especially for my 40+ clients, the goal isn’t proving what you can lift today at the expense of what you’ll be able to do tomorrow. The exercise is a tool. Your body, goals, anatomy, and training history determine which tool we use. Like, comment, share & follow. 👇 Comment STRONG if you’re ready to start training for strength that lasts.

This isn’t just about fitness. Some of you have “tried everything.” Every diet. Every program. Every coach. Every challenge. And nothing seems to stick. But this goes DOUBLE for business. You say you’re tired of the 9–5. You say you want freedom. You say you want to become an entrepreneur and build something of your own. Yet you’ve tried every business opportunity, bought every program, listened to every coach, attended every training, learned every new tactic… And you’re still not producing consistent sales, revenue, or results. At some point, you have to stop blaming the vehicle and look at the driver. Are you actually following through? Are you doing the uncomfortable work when nobody is watching? Are you making the calls, following up, creating the content, asking for the sale, improving your skills—and doing it consistently? Or are you constantly jumping to the next method because starting something new feels better than mastering something old? Fitness and business have a lot in common: Half commitment rarely produces full results. Stop searching for the perfect workout. Stop searching for the perfect business. Stop searching for the perfect coach, tactic, opportunity, or timing. Pick a direction. Develop the skills. Stay consistent. Execute. Sometimes the breakthrough isn’t another strategy. Sometimes you just need to get it together and do the work. If this hit you, save it. Share it with somebody who needs it—and ask yourself today: Where am I expecting results I haven’t earned through consistent action yet?

1️⃣ MUSCLE IS METABOLIC ARMOR. 💪 Muscle isn’t just about looking good or lifting heavy. It’s one of your body’s largest sites for glucose disposal and plays a major role in insulin sensitivity and metabolic health. 2️⃣ YOUR MUSCLE-TO-FAT RATIO MATTERS. When muscle mass is low—especially alongside higher visceral fat—you lose some of that metabolic protection. Poor metabolic health is also associated with inflammation and a greater risk of chronic musculoskeletal problems. 3️⃣ STRENGTH TRAINING GOES WAY BEYOND FITNESS. Your muscles, tendons, joints, and metabolism don’t operate independently. Strength training can help preserve muscle, improve insulin sensitivity, support physical function, and contribute to healthier aging. This isn’t just about six-packs and PRs. It’s about building a body that keeps working for you. 4️⃣ THIS IS WHY GOOD PERSONAL TRAINING MATTERS. A personal trainer shouldn’t just count reps and hand you workouts. The goal is to help you build and preserve muscle, move better, get stronger, improve your body composition, and create habits that support your long-term health. You don’t need to become a bodybuilder. You need enough strength and muscle to support the life you want to keep living. If you’re ready to start but don’t know what to do—or you need a professional watching your form, progression, and individual needs—DM me “STRONG” or contact San Diego Strength and Wellness 323-420-5074. Let’s build strength that actually matters. 💪🔥

We had a great team win last week against Grossmont. I am still learning a lot, but last week I learned that it's small moments that count. All the time I spend preparing makes me ready when I have an opportunity. I won't always be the first contact on a PR from. The line but I have to be ready when it happens. Thank you Coach @ben_landry_ for making sure I'm always ready. Thank you to my coaches at Otay Ranch High School for every opportunity. I am always working hard to be better the n xt day. #otayranchmustangsfootball #NoviceFootball #OLine #hardworkworkhard

PARENTS OF DANCERS: FLEXIBILITY ISN’T ENOUGH! 💃🏽🔥 A strong dancer needs more than beautiful technique. 💪 Strength → power & control ⚖️ Balance → stability & coordination 🧘🏽‍♀️ Mobility → better movement & range of motion Training these areas helps young dancers become stronger, more confident, and more prepared for the demands of dance. ✨ Don’t just train the dancer. 🔥 KAREN HAS BETTER LATERAL LUNGE FORM THAN ME… AND PROBABLY 99% OF THE WORLD! 🌎💪 And you know what? I LOVE IT! Karen has a unique combination of anatomy, natural mobility, and strength developed through consistent training that allows her to execute this movement beautifully. She’s also built exceptionally well for heavy presses! But here’s the lesson I want EVERYONE in the fitness community to understand. 👇 Your body was never meant to be a copy of someone else’s. We all have different limb lengths, joint structures, mobility, strengths, and natural abilities. What comes easily to one person might take years of practice for another. And that’s perfectly fine! The goal isn’t to become the strongest, fastest, or most flexible person in the room. The goal is to discover YOUR strengths, develop YOUR abilities, and become the strongest, most capable version of YOURSELF! Stop comparing your body to someone else’s highlight reel. Start exploring what YOUR body is capable of achieving! Karen is a perfect example of what happens when we recognize someone’s natural strengths and pair them with intelligent, consistent training. 🙌 NOW I WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU! 👇 💬 What fitness skill or movement comes naturally to YOU? Are you a natural at squats, deadlifts, pull-ups, mobility, or something completely different? 🔥 Drop your strongest movement in the comments! ❤️ Show Karen some love for that beautiful lateral lunge! 📲 SHARE this with someone who needs to stop comparing themselves to others and start embracing their own potential! Your body is unique. Your strengths are unique. OWN THEM! 💪 #SanDiegoStrengthAndWellness #CoachBenLandry #TrainSmart #FunctionalStrength #StrengthTraining MobilityTraining LateralLunges FitnessCommunity EmbraceYourBody MovementIsMedicine
