Yesterday we had the opportunity to workshop with Barbara “Bob” Allen, founder of collegejournalism.org, to reconstruct our purpose as a team. We also developed some goals that we will refer back to as we enter into an important week of reporting at SDState! 🐰

Thank you, Bob, for your dedication to student media!

One week ago, we gathered to remember Sept. 11, 2001. 🇺🇸

Some of the most meaningful moments happened beyond the panel. Our speakers engaged with students across campus, from personal lunches with our School of American and Global Studies students and Collegian Media journalists to an in-depth leadership discussion with our Air Force ROTC cadets.

These smaller conversations gave students the opportunity to ask questions and hear deeply personal perspectives. And for those students who weren’t alive on 9/11, hearing directly from those who experienced it allowed them to connect with history in a more intimate way.

One week later—and far beyond—these conversations continue to make an impact.

They were there. 🇺🇸

Today, we recalled moments from September 11, 2001. Community members gathered to listen to the testimonies of our panelists: former FBI special agent John Richards, retired Air Force Brigadier General Jeff Johnson and former NPR journalist JJ Sutherland.

Twenty-five years later, these stories remain. Sharing them ensures that future generations can understand what happened and what it meant to those who were there.

Thank you for joining us to reflect and remember.
