Drumroll (or lightly tap on table) please! The theme of this year’s KidsWrite! Children’s writing contest is THE DAY YOU BEGIN, inspired by the book of the same name by Jacqueline Woodson.

This theme is open to the interpretation of the young writers of San Diego County, from kindergarten through 12th grade, in poetry, short story, or graphic story.

Submissions open February 14th and entry is free to all! Tell your teacher friends, tell your parents, and if you’re a kid, get ready to write and submit!

Shout out to @lissasmithhh for telling us about @jacqueline_woodson !

I had the pleasure of interviewing her, and let me tell you, if you like true mysteries, you won’t want to miss hearing Kirsten speak about her new book, which centers on the tragic story of ZAPPOS CEO Tony Hsieh.
