Dear _____, I hope this finds you well— Bracketed by sign-ons and sign-offs, this exhibition space is the content of the message. It marks an in-between space between hello and goodbye, where we find ourselves in this moment in time. Here you will find speculative interfaces and monumental marginalia; dimensional translations—across space and scale; nostalgic histories—both personal and public; digital observations—at times profound and at times absurd; translation of disciplines, crippling of canons, shifting of perspectives. We transplant, take pause, and resist—creating new tools and instruments in shared topographies. Composed in plural gestures, sent with varied methods, unified by one container: this is a space of visual correspondence in transit. As we depart from this time, we hope you think of us often. 🧡 Rhode Island School of Design MFA Graphic Design 2025 Graduate Show May 22—29 🩷 Reception May 21, 6 PM Kind regards, RISD Graphic Design MFA @hell0_br00klyn @chihaochang @doheeikm @e_romno @tmobile_1045am @gildedobjects @funkmastaer @l.m.heindl @wakwatshuma @se.huan @sojungyoon @sy_ro0 @hahaitstinawatsup @curious_case_of_a_cancerian @ycz1031242365

✨student work spotlight✨ “One Day, I Reopened The Window and Smelled The Sunlight Inside” A hand-held riso zine that folds and opens like a window, inviting the viewer to look inside a mind, much like contemplating a sunset by the windowsill. It features quotes from Audre Lorde, John Berger, and thinkers alike. The zine encourages quiet moments of reflection, offering space to engage with both the external world and the inner realm. Created by @se.huan 🌼 At @luhitch’s RISO Workshop! #risdgdtakeover by @saachiimehta

Student Work Highlight ✨ Newly Formed Alphabet by Selina @se.huan 🔥 A plastic film sheet was warped over a stove flame, creating a surface that refracted light in various directions. A torch lighter was then used to burn out the letterform on the film, leaving intense warping and hollow burn marks outlining the letterform’s skeleton. The film was scanned to create the illusion of fire and a burning letterform. #RISDGDTakeOver by Vishakha @curious_case_of_a_cancerian

My @samfoxschool Typeface Design class had an exhibition of their revival typefaces from the semester last week—pulling out all the stops: live screen printing, a DJ, and work everywhere. This has been one of the most fun groups of students I’ve had, a perfect bunch for the first run of this course. Our last class was Wednesday, but they are putting the finishing touches on their projects —thanks in part to feedback from @lynneyun & @ninastoessinger — I’m excited to see how their projects all land. It has been a joy to share the ins and outs of typeface design with this bunch: @mia_talk_studio , @type.btch , @se.huan , @daniilsdesign , @lliu.site , @curatedbychristine , @nspringman , @royijin , @vppittman , @w.hy_joseph_ , @y.zsue , Christine Bi, @juleblat , and @cokezerohero —Ben Photos by Jin Park (@jin.jpeg )
