A trip down memory lane during @idl.global Launch back in July 2025.

I remember when @sean.mac asked if I wanted to fly down and help with photography during IDL’s first event back in 2025. This year, we went across the globe, and now back in LA where it all began - it feels like a hero’s journey in everything we’ve been able to learn, experience, and grow from, and see how we’ve created something more than just “another dance competition”. To see people reference IDL, dances trend on social media, and seeing the last 2 shows sell out in under an hour is inspiring to say the least - we’ve created a movement.

Forever thankful to @sean.mac, @aura.obj , @__connorlim , @evanczhou and @albright_alec for letting me be a part of capturing so many memories. It’s been inspiring being around so many talented people, and I feel like I’ve grown in my own creativity by being here and challenging myself.

Year 1 down, here’s to many more. See you all next weekend! #idlglobal

Been really falling in love with having physical media, specifically for an event like this. There’s so many special moments and I think an instant camera really captures the joy and laughter we have on event days ((despite any hiccups or stress)). Can’t believe we’re almost at the end of this season!! So grateful to all of the IDL team. Making history!!

JX Matsuri 2026 🎌🎪✨

What a day!

From the games and prizes to the food, music, community booths, and everyone who came out to celebrate with us, this inaugural JX Matsuri was something truly special!

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who made this event possible, @niseiweek @littletokyotabletennis our sponsors, community partners, vendors, DJs, @asian_nation volunteers, Weller Court, the Consulate General of Japan in Los Angeles, and every organization and individual who contributed their time, resources, creativity, and energy.

JX Matsuri was created with a simple goal: bring people together through Japanese American culture, entertainment, and community while creating something that the next generation can call their own.

Seeing Little Tokyo filled with people playing carnival games, discovering organizations, meeting new friends, winning prizes, dancing to music, and simply having fun made all of the work worth it.

Most importantly, thank you to everyone who showed up. Whether you played one game, volunteered all day, sponsored a booth, donated a prize, performed, shared our posts, or brought your family and friends — you were part of JX Matsuri.

This was a community effort from beginning to end, and we couldn’t have done it without you.

Thank you for making the first ever JX Matsuri one to remember. ❤️

See you next year! 🎌

Last Friday we sold out two days at the Shrine in minutes. Alec posted tear moving appreciations and Evan had some throwback stories. It made me want to take a beat and reflect on what just happened, so I spent all week digging through my photo album to find moments from last year and found all this raw bts footage of us working.

Looking back at it now, that shit was batshit crazy. Evan and I said fuck it we ball. We maxed out all our credit cards, called in very favor we could, and stayed up all night for days on end.

I mean, we launched a dance league in less than 12 weeks… and 8 months after that, we launched an international season in 5 different countries.

I’ve been on the road pretty much every other week for the last year and now we’re finally back in LA.

The 2026 season is coming to an end with the 5th regular series and championship all in one weekend.

Reflecting on this season so far, I cant help but just feel so grateful for my team. For some reason I’ve been blessed with a group of lunatics that can make the impossible, possible.

If you know me, you know I start all my hiring meetings the same: This will be the hardest job you will ever have. This job fucking sucks. I can’t promise you stability, I’ll ask for the impossible, and you probably would be paid better somewhere else.

BUT I can promise you one thing. If you work with us. You will make magic. You will be putting your heart in the most meaningful work of your life and you will accomplish more than you ever thought you could.

So thank you for joining the mission. There’s a long road ahead of us, but so far, we’re off to a good start. 🫡
