Climbing doesn’t always need to be the thing you stop doing until you’re better. With the right modifications, climbing can be part of the process. You can change the hold type, angle, intensity, volume, or movement demands and use climbing itself to rebuild tolerance and confidence. That often gives us better information than trying to define readiness with a sterile measurement that strips away the complexity of the actual sport. The goal isn’t necessarily to remove climbing. It’s to figure out what version of climbing makes sense right now, and then keep building from there. A huge thank you to @seando12thousand for trusting the process and letting me share a little piece of it. I’m really proud of the work you put in and even happier to see that shoulder back doing what you want it to do. 🙌🏼💪🏼 #climbingrehab #climbingmedicine #claviclefracture #returntosport #climbingphysio

2026 youth nationals boulders What a blessing to have 8pm changeovers into 6am wake-ups. What a gift to have sand in my slides and thin skin on my hands. What a treasure to have friends and times like this. Morning stretches and desert walks Jiarra’s masterpieces and Banx tax Parting with friends is a sadness. A place is only a place. ~Thufir Hawat

Youth Bouldering Nationals 2026 Had the absolute pleasure of spending 359 (10) days working with a stellar crew. Hard to really put it all into words or in pictures for that matter. We braved the sand storms together and put on a comp we can all be proud of. Catch y’all soon!

One month post-surgery thoughts and a look back to my send on Babylon ‼️✨🩷 (and a little snippet of a Tula original poem🤭🫢) ••• This week back in June 2020, I did the first female ascent of Babylon V9 at Ladybird Roof, a line I’d been obsessed with since trying it the year previous. The climbing saga Tosh and I embarked on in the West Kootenay boulders inevitably saved my love of climbing and got me so stoked on outdoor boulderinggg :) Looking back on everything I’ve done in the past 6 years, and loved, movement has been a constant in my life and right now while it’s (QUITE) limited, it’s hard sometimes to remember the long-game but gotta keep my head up and peruse the rest+recovery I’ve been prescribed. Also, today it’s officially one month post-op!!! While recovery has been bittersweet at times, thinking about all the things I was able to do pre-knee injury, (I WANT TO CLIMB I WANT TO RUN I WANT TO MOVE!!!) I’ve realized that this break has given me time to explore other hobbies and aspects of myself that I “haven’t had time for” in the past because I’ve been so focused on training, climbing, and school. Things like writing poetry again, taking and editing photos finally, and starting Stardew Valley‼️😛 While these things are very much not in the same realm of physical exertion, they’re fun, and take my mind off of the things that I’m not doing right now. EVERYTHING IS SOOOO FINE (: ••• The long/short of it is that recovery ebbs and flows through times of positivity as well as melancholia and the blues, both of which are expected and normal, but can still very jarring. The important thing though is to remember the long-game, I’ll be back to it soon (re: maybe not SOON, but when my knee is recovered!) ANYWAYS, wild how much time has passed since Babylon, still holds such a special place in my heart and history 😛🩷 What’s something you want to spend more time on that’s not climbing (or your perfected sport vice)? ••• 📸 Babylon photos taken by @seando12thousand

PNTC Block 2 Bouldering Recap Athletes wrapped up the first week of PNTC with an onsight-style mock competition that challenged their ability to read movement, make quick decisions, and execute under pressure. The following day, athletes revisited unsent boulders, exploring different movement solutions and refining their technique with guidance from coaches. The focus was not simply on sending, but on understanding what each boulder was asking and developing stronger problem-solving skills. Throughout the block, athletes continued building the adaptability and decision making required for success in competition climbing. 📸 @jenns.captures
