I took a train from Vancouver for a morning Seattle didn’t owe us.
⠀
I was on a layover in Vancouver, but I had my eyes on Seattle. That legendary low fog was looking possible, and I couldn’t stop thinking about it.
⠀
So I made the trip down specifically to shoot it last Wednesday morning.
⠀
A little ambitious for a layover? Maybe. But this is Seattle we’re talking about.
⠀
I’d been watching the forecast, trying not to get too excited. The pressure looked right. Temperature and dew point were lining up. The wind looked good, too.
⠀
Everything was giving us a reason to hope.
⠀
But Seattle still had to show up.
⠀
Wednesday. 7 a.m. Meeting Amy from Amy from @amygadabout and Jamie from @shotsbyesco , cameras ready, hoping the city would give us that one little window.
⠀
And man… did it ever.
⠀
The Space Needle above the clouds. Downtown slipping in and out of the fog. Rainier holding down the horizon while the sky slowly turned pink, then gold.
⠀
The kind of morning where you look down at your camera, then back up, because somehow the real thing is even harder to believe.
⠀
All that forecast checking. The train ride down. The hope that everything might actually line up.
⠀
And then getting to stand there with Amy and Jamie and watch it happen.
⠀
Getting these shots was special. Sharing that morning with those two made it even better.
⠀
A Vancouver layover, a little weather obsession, and a whole lot of luck.
⠀
Seattle, I’d make that trip again in a heartbeat. 🤍

Fall lights are back in Seattle.

ㅤ
You know that time of year when the sun starts sitting a little lower, the shadows get a little longer, and the whole city just feels different?

ㅤ
Yeah, we’re right back there.

ㅤ
I love how the fall light finds its way through downtown Seattle.

ㅤ
One side of the skyline is already wrapped in shadows, while the last little pockets of sunlight turn the buildings gold.

ㅤ
And right in the middle of it all, the Space Needle.

ㅤ
No crazy sunset. No dramatic clouds. Just that warm, moody October light slipping between the buildings for a few more minutes before the city settles into evening.

It’s one of those little Seattle moments you could easily miss if you weren’t paying attention.

And honestly, that’s what makes fall around here so special.
