A very fun morning in the studio with @blossomsband earlier this year whilst recording their new album, Songs From The Wedding Cake - which is out today!

Real ‘pinch me’ moment at Tilehouse Studios in May with the boys; watching them at work, listening to their new tunes, even an impromptu rendition of ‘The Fresh Prince of Bel Air’ and of course eating a ‘wedding’ cake for breakfast too ha ha

It has been a real privilege getting to know these legends over the past couple of years having been a fan since their debut album (ten years ago now!!) 🙏

Their fantastic new album is out everywhere now 💒🎂

Growing Pains is out in full today. 💐

I also turned 30 a few weeks ago, which feels like strangely appropriate timing for releasing a record with this name.

This album started from seven days in the Polish mountains with one of my best friends and long term collaborators, @wilbradbury. We created 29 sketches, drank a bunch of polish black coffee, stuck post-it notes to windows and generally tried to follow the thread of whatever felt exciting in the moment without too much expectation.

Eventually those sketches became nine pieces of music.

On Sunday I got to play ambient interpretations of those songs in a room full of people, surrounded by flowers, as the first version of Square Garden. It felt like a strangely perfect way to bring the process full circle. Seeing people sit together, listen and find their own meaning in the music was a pretty special way to let go of something.

This record also wouldn’t exist without the ideas, encouragement, love and support of these lovely people (in random order):

@wilbradbury / @sebwildblood / @olansound / @7aint7about7me / @mollynicholsonmusic / @loufmusic / @jacccccccccccccccck / @lilyelletson_ / @lou.vincent_ / @wretla_propaganda / @seb.gardner / @kudo.tim / @pl_gillard / @grandinc

There are lots more things to say and people I want to thank properly, but perhaps for now it’s best to let the music do its thing and let you form your own interpretations of it.

Incredibly grateful these ideas now exist outside of a laptop and very pleased to be releasing on home turf @allmythoughtshq :)

Growing Pains is yours now 🌸

I baked a cake for Blossoms’ Monday morning breakfast at the studio whilst recording their new album and this is what went down…

(*I didn’t bake the cake, a lovely lady called Lola did)
