What can football, street art, and refugee communities teach us about universal human connections?

Here are 5 moments from our conversation with @sebtoussaint International muralist and a superhero that uses arts to heal and empower underserved communities.

Seb is a French-British Artist, and the founder of Share The Word, a project that has created more than 250 murals across 20+ countries, often alongside communities, refugee camps, and other underserved settlements whose stories rarely reach the outside world.

Using football, art, talent, and ever-growing friendships, Seb shared with us memorable stories, and a piece of advice that stayed with him since his first cycling trip around the world: “don’t be too careful”

Seb also shares a refreshing perspective on creativity, risk, travel, and the real power of public art.

We also explore how murals can do much more than transform walls: they can create visibility, start conversations, strengthen communities, and give people a way to tell their own story.

Matiuda chose the word “Chisomo” ( Mercy in Nyanja ). She is a catholic and told me that she believes that god is merciful. I started painting this wall on Sunday, a day where many people are at church. For a large part of the day, we could hear an excellent choir and a band playing in a church just a few meters away. ~ @sebtoussaint

Seb Toussaint, Balata, 2021

Seb Toussaint, Bichkek, 2021

Seb Toussaint, Bangkok, 2025
