Gamble House Interior! It’s Oscar night, which definitely calls for something special, especially from a feed called Houses of Hollywood! And admittedly, I’ve been so busy watching everything Oscar today that I am late with this, but I hope you will still enjoy it! it’s not easy to tell from this cover shot, but on Friday night I was treated to the opportunity to go on a self guided tour throughout our county’s landmark treasure, The Gamble House, built in 1908 by the superstar architect brothers Greene and Greene. Commissioned by David Gamble, son of one of the Founders of Procter & Gamble, the house is one of the most spectacular examples of an “Ultimate Bungalow” - the name for the brothers’ larger homes, built in the craftsman style. And here in this home, we see the incredible talents of the Greene brothers, displayed in every detail, inside and out, including stunning built-ins throughout and custom designed furnishings. Every single light fixture is special and authentic and breathtakingly beautiful, and the windows, doors and other details feature iridescent art glass that’s almost too gorgeous to be believed. The cover photo here shows that they had live artist models posing for painters in front of the house for Friday’s event, while we filed in and were greeted by docents in each part of the house, answering all of our questions. We were able to explore upstairs and downstairs and of course, as usual, I will be showing much more of the house in the coming days. But for now, I wanted to at least show you the kitchen, breakfast room, butler’s pantry, along with the formal dining room. It will take me much more time to go through all the photos I took of the interior to do more posts on it. Believe me, you will enjoy the details! I also want to explain that I took the opportunity to use a song that worked perfectly but may not be known by very many of you. As a college student, I went very often to see my friends’ bands play. This band, Human Hands, was a favorite and I love this song by them, entitled “My kitchen.” It was night, it was dark, but I think you can still see most of what there was to see. #gamblehouse

Upstairs at The Doctor’s House in Glendale, CA. Please see my other posts - in the past few days - to learn more about this beautiful Victorian House museum, built in 1890, moved to its current location in the Brand Library park in 1980 (by being cut in half and placed upon a giant truck!). Believe it or not, there’s still more I can show you, and eventually I will, but for now this gives you a good sense of what the upstairs is like. Every single object was so carefully chosen and so beautiful and interesting. They really did a wonderful job with this house museum. #thedoctorshouse #glendaleheritagepreservation #victorianhouse #victorianhome #victorianhomedecor #victorianinterior
