At our game day, we had a number of very generous people give their time to demo some great games.

@sedai_ was one of the first to volunteer and he showed off the awesomeness that is Shackleton Base.

It's time for another boardgames day at one of #CapeTown's awesome #craftbreweries :)

This time we're inviting Cape Town's boardgame geeks and gamers to @craftbeerworks for a fun day out of boardgames, beers, and maybe even some axe throwing 🤷🏼‍♂️.

Hope to see you there.

📊February 2022 #BGStats.

Feels like it's been a slower month for games. Though I do feel like we've reached that point with our collection, where I don't feel the need to buy lots of new things. So maybe we will be seeing less and less new to us games and more plays of games we already own....wouldn't that be something 😂

Take one look at Pax Pamir and you'll be in absolute awe of its beauty while at the same time probably a little intimidated too... at least that was my first impression :)

As a pretty much kickstarter-only game with limited retail availability and shipping options, Pax Pamir 2e was rather hard to get my hands on.

When I heard it was going back to Kickstarter for a second print run I hit that refresh button until it popped up, lol.

It's been on my shelf for a few weeks now, which gave me enough time to read the rulebook (a few times) and find a decent 'how to play' video (Modern Cardboard has an excellent one!).

The summary - you only have 2 actions on a turn - purchase a card, play a card, or take an action on a card... everything is in the cards :)

When you play a card to your tableu you get to do the action(s) on the top right of the card, and on subsequent turns you can take the actions on the bottom of the card - either for free or at a cost.

Despite how it looks, this is not an area control game!

Playing a game with as many 'small and easy to forget but critical' rules as this one, our first game was always going to be a learning game. I think we managed quite well and only forgot or misinterpreted one or two rules. The game flowed really well and with a better understanding of the game, we immediately set it up for another game... and got another one or two rules wrong, whoops :)

What makes this game so great is that depending on the number of players you'll only end up using half the deck in a game, meaning there's a ton of replayability just there.

Then, because each player chooses one of 3 factions with whom they can align themselves (and change during play) every game can be radically different to the previous one. (as we found out).

There is no ways you will have an optimal strategy the first few times you play, and figuring out what really works, while adapting to each unique game is exactly what I want out of a thinky game like PP2E.

I can't wait to play it again now that we understand the dynamics, so I can actually try and figure out an effective strategy :)

Have you played it? I'd love to hear your thoughts.

We have reached a new milestone!! 🎉🎊🙌

Thank you everyone of you 1500+ followers! We would not have done this without your love and support! 🤗

Sorry for the delay on this post, too many events screaming for our attention.

We really love interacting with each of you through responding to comments in our posts, DMs and stories! Your interactions made our day and gave great meaning to the games that we played!

We love your contents on the top games for the year or month, Christmas gift guides, boardgame challenges, games reviews and impressions and many other more! (We find that reading your contents more fruitful than watching local television programs 😆)

Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts 🥰This journey has been a wonderful one and believe this is just the beginning 😃

We will be announcing a giveaway soon to celebrate this huge milestone, so stay tuned! 🙂

#Euphoria is one of the earlier #JameyStegmaier games that has been high up on my list of games to play for a long time.

Thanks to @sedai_ I got to tick it off the list today :)

Will share my thoughts on the game in the next post. Have you played it? What did you think?

I'm also a big fan of @logicfairy's art, who used an awesome Disney style for another game, Fidelitas that I always enjoy looking at from time to time.

When South Africa's biggest #Boardgame supplier has a 'dinged, dented and damaged' warehouse sale, with some awesome titles, like #Catan, #TicketToRide, #Takenoko, #MachiKoro, #XWing and #Gloomhaven but all you walk away with is... swipe left to see, lol.
